Small items from the buffet

Hanare, “retreat”
in Japanese, lives up to its name with its cool calmative setting. Located near
the busy Jalan Ampang and Tun Razak junction in the noisy city centre, this Japanese
restaurant breathes serenity and relaxation. Faint ambience music, dark anodyne
hues and natural stone and wood lit by discrete down lighting compose the
ambience. Sundays are an enticing time for a visit for the buffet brunch
including free flow of chilled sake, beer and non-alcoholic beverages alongside
some finely prepared Japanese cuisine.

In an approach unique to the Japanese, presentation
impresses, with every detail thoughtfully taken care of. Tableware is earthen
and customized to each course. Chopsticks are not only coupled with a patterned
wrapping but also tied elegantly with a bow. Place mats are embroidered with
the name of the restaurant in English and Japanese and various ceramic serving
vessels are matched to each drink. The sake carafe is a pleasingly aesthetic
sight with its transparent glass and thin lines of blue with a custom made
receptacle for crushed ice to chill the rice liquor without diluting it. The
sounds of a chef chopping away on the teppan barbecue is akin to the sounds of
taiko drums and even the Japanese chef himself adds to the ambience as he
clunks around in traditional wooden geta
sandles.
Hand picked seasonal items are air-flown in daily from the famous
Tsukiji Market in Tokyo, so you are assured of only the best. Live stations
ensure everything is freshly prepared – not your usual buffet style food that
is left sitting for hours, but hand made on the spot nearly everything.  We couldn’t resist multiple servings of the
buttery sashimi, teppanyaki and tempura. With one of our favourite cuisines,
Japanese, coming fast and fresh, and our sake carafe being topped up without
delay, we were jubilant diners this Sunday afternoon.

A focused offering highlighting freshness includes: Sakizuke (appetizers); Sashimi (fresh raw seasonal seafood); Sushi (vinegared rice rolls with fish,
egg or vegetables made on the spot); Maki/temaki
(hand rolled sushi with seaweed); Tempura
(
veges and seafood and deep
fried); Teppanyaki (your choice of meats, seafood and vegetables freshly
griddled on the Japanese hotplate); Nimono
(stewed dishes); Yakimono (seafood
and meat grilled over open fire) and; Nizumono
 (fruit, cheesecake, green tea custard).

The Japanese Sunday Buffet Brunch with free flow of chilled
sake and draft beer is offered at a special price until the end of December
this year, 2012. From 12noon until 2:30pm diners can enjoy the smorgasbord with
the above listed alcoholic beverages for RM148++ per person (usually priced at
RM198++).
Reason to visit:  Sunday Japanese buffet brunch with free flow
of sake, draft beer, soft drinks and green tea.
