It was after a visit to the upgraded Sugar Bistro Crescat Boulevard in Colombo, when I found the inspiration to share this delicious drink. The key ingredient hales from the south of Kandy, from a strawberry farm in Nuwara Eliya. Wonderful and juicy red fruits are the stars in this sophisticated Frozen Strawberry Margherita.
This recipe is for four servings but I can guarantee one person can drink it all… so fresh and divine…but please drink with moderation.
Recipe for the Ultimate Frozen Strawberry Margarita by Sugar Bistro Wine & Bar and Chef Miguel Cirne
500ml crushed ice
120ml strawberry puree (frozen fresh strawberries, pureed)
2 limes juiced
Splash Triple Sec
Mint Leaves (my touch)
Splash simple syrup (equal amounts sugar and water heated until sugar dissolves, then cooled)
1. Combine the ice, strawberry puree, tequila, lime juice, Triple Sec and simple syrup in a blender and puree until smooth.
2. Divide between four rocks glasses and serve.
3. Garnish with mint or one fresh strawberry.
