Heavenly Spa, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali

It just would not be right to leave Bali without having had a complete spa indulgence, and Heavenly Spa by Westin takes luxuriating very seriously. Newly opened, pale woods, verdant views, contemporary design and, state of the art facilities characterize the Westin’s signature spa experience.

Guests are welcomed with ginger tea in a fresh chic reception area. The space is light and bright with a range of Heavenly Spa products lining the walls. It’s in direct contrast to the dark mysterious interiors, which are hidden behind king-sized doors marking the portal to the
treatment rooms.

Once these heavy doors are opened a circular room, lined with sheer curtains, begins a trail of similarly lined hallways leading to the bathroom, lounge and treatment quarters.

The bathrooms are way more than simple changing facilities. Soft lighting, modern design and, state of the art amenities have turned them into a valuable part of the complete spa experience itself.
Each guest is assigned an automatically locking wardrobe, opened with an electronic wristband worn for the visit. Plush robes, slippers and towels are kept inside, as well as disposable underwear (and a bra too if you’re a little more self-conscience). Hair dryer, brushes and a number of beauty essentials too are provided to get you back into an arrangement to brave the world again post treatment.
Be sure to make time to luxuriate in the facilities both before and after your appointment. Arriving 45 minutes earlier is highly recommended. This will allow you to prepare your body with the thermal amenities, prepping both your physique and mind for your chosen treatment.
The herbal steam room contains the essential oil of eucalyptus, which aids in opening pores and eases respiration. Afterwards take a quick cleanse in the shower then enter the Himalayan salt sauna. It further opens pores and helps rid the body of toxins. Finally use the hydro pool, which is fitted with powerful jets to soften up muscles and relieve tension.

Heavenly Spa by Westin brings the latest in technology into the treatment rooms too. An adjustable bed removes the necessity of placing towels under key points to relieve pressure on the back. It can also sit you in a semi upright position so masseuses can better access your neck and shoulders.
We tried the Heavenly Spa Signature His and Hers Massage (IDR 1.5 million per couple for 90 minutes). Arranged in a couple’s room, double doors open up to an outdoor patio perched over a pond. A separate dressing and bathroom area ensures added comfort for longer sessions.

A stone ritual provides purpose for your treatment. Asked to choose from the words love, hope or gratitude, a stone with your chosen mantra is placed inside what is usually the flower bowl that you see when prone on the massage table, so when you open your eyes you are reminded of your intention.
Aromatherapy oil can also be chosen based on your goal or personal bouquet preference. We both chose love to match our wordstone, which blends geranium, patchouli and ylang ylang and is used to connect to your surroundings. The oil was viscous and smooth, causing
hands to easily slip over our skin. Our therapists were both strong and adjusted their strokes as we requested. 90 minutes was enough time to completely relax, but not too much to feel uncomfortable from laying down too long.

The conclusion of the treatment doesn’t signify the end of relaxation. A lounge full of day beds and flowing gauzy materials hanging from above, give space to slowly refocus on the world again. A tray of superfoods – almonds, walnuts and dark chocolate and strawberries – are sided with a pot of ginger tea (or cool refreshment if you so choose) and make fine post massage nibbles.

Upon departure, a final farewell is handed over in the form of two dark chocolate pieces with the word, “renew” on the wrappers. Renewed is something we certainly felt at the close of our visit to Heavenly Spa by Westin, and both hubby and I recommend a visit to this contemporary retreat to everyone when visiting Bali.

  1. Sighhhh!!!!! Wish we had such nice and decent ones here. I sure need one… 🙁

  2. The spa looks heavenly! I could use a massage now, Monica!

  3. I've been reading your blog since yesterday…very fascinating reviews. When compared to Heavenly Spa at Langkawi and Nusa Dua Bali, i do think the Bali one is priced cheaper but with more modern facilities.

    • Hi Ann, I usually find prices in Bali are less than Malaysia. A tip for your stay – sign up for the Starwood Privilege Card (spg – it's free) and you'll receive anywhere from 10 – 50% discount on food and beverage outlets and other offers too. Warm regards, Monica
