where to stay in Legian, bali

Padma Resort Bali at Legian, Indonesia

Magnificent grounds flourishing with lush tropical gardens and, filled with local sculptures and architecture, make Padma Resort Bali at Legian a superb choice for accommodation not far from the airport. Prime position on Legian Beach and a minute’s walk to endless shops, spas and restaurants further make it an attractive option.

Padma Resort Bali at Legian has a distinctive Balinese ambience. It’s one of the older properties on the island, which means it occupies a sizeable plot of land that is almost unheard of on the southern tip these days. Making the most of this generosity of space, the landscaping sprawls out luxuriously encompassing multiple pools, shaded walkways, a host of artworks and, multiple verdant sanctuaries for pondering the splendor of the natural surrounds.
Smiley Service from the Start
Wedged between Seminyak and Kuta, Legian has a mix of well-priced restaurants and shops combined with a bit of Seminyak’s chic more upmarket outlets. The stretch of beach is popular for surfing but is not as overcrowded as Kuta. It also proffers one of the best spots from which to watch the sunset and, Padma Resort Bali at Legian has designed a beach bar with sunset drink specials and live music to capture the experience.
The Departure Lounge provides a cool clean place for those early arrivals or late departures
All rooms have balconies. Our club room has direct access to the lagoon pool and is just metres away from a swim up bar. Others have garden courtyards and verandahs that overlook either the pool or garden.

Pale flooring and white bed linens are contrasted with dark Asian woods furnishings brandishing a clean contemporary feel based in creative island heritage. Full length mirrors and lots of glass brighten the room which can be made feel even larger with sliding mirror doors opening up or concealing the bathroom as desired.
Bathroom
A free-standing bathtub begs to be soaked in and luxury bath products smell great. As is expected these days, complimentary broadband Internet is provided, although we find it much faster in the common areas than in our room. Flat screen TV, safe, mini-fridge, international plugs and so on are all standard in this 5-star resort.
Sweet Smelling Bath Products
Bedding is comfortable and rivals any other luxury property we’ve stayed in on the island. We appreciate the choice of pillows, ranging from Hypo-Allergenic to Swedish Memory to All-Round Wellness varieties.
Club Room
A good handful of restaurants have an excellent reputation on the strip. Various theme nights and special promotions are often changing so check out their website to find the latest.
Donbiu Restaurant – we love that everywhere you look there are beautiful tropical gardens
We tried Barong for lunch on our arrival, with salads, sandwiches, burgers and fried food dominating the menu. Hubby was happy with his Club Sandwich and I highly recommend trying their signature Chicken Satay Rica Rica, which is served on a mini barbecue of hot coals. The drink list is extensive with a range of mojitos being the highlight of the month. A passion fruit and a kiwi infusion are both excellent tributes to this classic.

Dinner at Tenkai Japanese restaurant is an agreeable experience. Teppanyaki chefs toss, juggle and cook food in front of diners, providing entertainment as well as a delicious feast. A decent wine and cocktail list accompany the food menu, but Japanese tea, sake, or shochu are the preferred partners to a meal here.

We stayed in a club room so have the added benefits of using the lounge. A delicious a la carte breakfast is served daily with a small buffet of fresh fruits, breads, cereals and yoghurt supporting the hot offerings. We find the food way above average and the pancakes are some of the best we’ve had in Bali. Hot and cold beverages are available throughout the day and the evening cocktail hours shouldn’t be missed. As the light fades from day into night, the outdoor temperature is pleasant and an exclusive deck supplies a garden setting from which to view the stunning sunset.

Facilities are excellent with both a lagoon pool and enormous Olympic size pool lined with plenty of recliners and umbrellas to catch some tropical rays. A glass-walled gym not only delivers pretty garden and pond views but is also equipped with a variety of well-maintained cardio, free weights and strength machines.

Padma Resort Bali at Legian is a green and spacious oasis in the heart of the popular beach and shopping district of southern Bali. We found the service and facilities 5-star and left enchanted with the magical intermingling of art and nature. This is a place we’d be delighted to make a return visit to.
Plenty of Spots to Rest in the Garden
Reason to visit: expansive grounds; wonderful mix of lush tropical gardens and art; conveniently located around 20 minutes from the airport; all rooms have a balcony; excellent breakfast; club room benefits.
