Imagine sinking into a giant swing seat on a lush patio, surrounded by vibrant greenery, the gentle murmur of a water feature, and attended by gracious staff with warm smiles. Now add a three-tiered tray of sweets, savouries and scones prepared by one of Siem Reap’s most celebrated chefs and his talented team. This is afternoon tea at Kroya by Chef Chanrith.
Afternoon Tea at Kroya, Siem Reap
Kroya’s Afternoon Tea Set is just right for two, priced at $15 USD++ per person. It features prettily presented and expertly crafted sweet and savoury treats alongside unlimited servings of tea and coffee. Feeling a bit bubbly? Upgrade your experience to the Sparkling Afternoon Tea Set for $26++ per person. This option adds a half bottle of Dea del Mare Prosecco, adding some effervescence to your afternoon.
Savouries, Sweets & Scones
The three tiers of the Afternoon Tea Set are a cascading display of flavours and finesse. Even though I don’t have a sweet tooth, I appreciated the care put into curating such a collection. Strawberry and chocolate macarons, an almond croissant, chocolate éclairs with pink icing, and a refreshing lemon meringue tart gave Han Sen plenty to savour with his hot cup of tea.
I made my mark with the freshly baked scones, served warm with homemade jam and fluffy whipped cream. These, too, are good with the English Breakfast tea accompanying our set.
Lastly, unlike many afternoon tea sets where desserts are the stars of the show, Kroya’s savoury tier is as equally impressive. The open-faced finger sandwiches are arranged like a playful mosaic on the plate. Classic combinations like ham and cheese are joined by luxurious options like salmon gravlax with sour cream and capers. Prawn cocktail with Marie-rose sauce and zesty salami with pickles and mustard complete the selection.
