Rooftop Barmoxy – Moxy Seoul Insadong

We’re always looking for spots with good drinks, good views and good times, and Barmoxy on the rooftop of Moxy Seoul Insadong delivers.
Rooftop Barmoxy,- Moxy Seoul Insadong
On the sixteenth floor of Moxy Seoul Insadong, Bar Moxy offers panoramas of downtown Seoul. On one side, you see Namsan Tower (the famous spot for many a Korean love story), and on the other, the ancient roofscape of Insadong. Encircling the modern and traditional man-made beauties is a continuous ring of rolling mountains. In the summer, sunset is the perfect time to arrive, just as the sky lights up with colour and the heat softens.
The streets below, crammed with traditional homes, teahouses, pottery stores, cute cafes, and food on every corner, are a striking contrast to rooftop Barmoxy’s loud murals and neon lights. It’s vibrant and a fun spot for casual meet-ups. When we arrive, there’s a handful of tourists meeting up for sundowners. Their energy is mirrored in the upbeat tunes and modern setting.
Barmoxy Menu
Cocktails, wine, draft beer and several spirits make an uncomplicated menu. We start with some Moxy summer specials, the Dirty Shirley (KRW15,000) and Virgin Mojito (KRW15,000). The first is vodka, lime, soda, and cranberries garnished with thyme sprigs. The latter apple, mint and lime mix can be served on its own or made boozy with a shot of your preferred spirit (KRW15,000). Both are uncomplicated, easy-drinking, taking the edge off the summer heat.
A handful of rice wine cocktails are worth a second look. Siesta (KRW18,000) flavours Bacardi rum and rice wine with orange. Orange Rooibos (KRW 12 000), as you may have guessed, is rooibos tea and rice wine. Lastly, Lalaland (KRW15,000) sees rice wine accompanied by ouija. The Korean berry name literally means “five flavours” for its complexity of taste. They’re too pungent to eat raw, so they’re usually made as tea or into syrup.
Snacks Menu
The rooftop Barmoxy is set up primarily for drinking and socialising. However, you can order a few snacks to nibble while you sip. Truffle Potato Chips (KRW13,000) and Brie Cheese (KRW18,000) mirror the beverages in their straightforwardness. They’re not snacks you have to think about. Instead, focus on conversations and views.
Reasons to visit Rooftop Barmoxy, Moxy Seoul Insadong: fun, casual vibes with views of downtown Seoul; best at sunset; uncomplicated drinks – try the rice wine cocktails; grab a rooftop drink and then head down to explore the winding alleys of Insadong.
