Minori Japanese Restaurant, The Royale Bintang Damansara Hotel, Malaysia
The energetic pounding of taiko drums and the breaking of a Hakutsuru Sake barrel marked the opening of the latest Japanese restaurant in town, Minori. After a month of renovation and a 2 million ringgit investment, the restaurant, located in The Royale Bintang Damansara, opened to a crowd of celebrities, media and connoisseurs of fine food.
Minori, meaning harvest, intends to apply ‘traditional culinary values to provide a fine Japanese gastronomic experience.” The kitchen is led by Executive Chef Hideaki Nakajima. The Japanese master with over 20 years of experience and numerous awards under his belt is quoted commenting on his culinary philosophy, “If it’s not perfectly prepared, it’s not leaving the kitchen.” Before I’d even tasted the food, I liked him already.
While opening night was packed with guests and a buffet spread so not a true experience of what you might expect from a dining encounter at Minori, the dishes we sampled were enough to coerce a return visit. Stay tuned for more Minori posts, as we will definitely be back.
Reason to visit: latest restaurant on the Japanese dining scene where, if the chef lives up to his philosophy, no guest will be disappointed.
