Confession! – I almost never eat at restaurants or bars in big hotels. Unless it is a 5-star establishment, I have found in the past they are often of mediocre quality, with uninspired menus, high prices and small servings. The Cellar Door has changed my mind and hopefully will win you over too!
As you enter the softly lit lounge just off the lobby of the Double Tree Hilton in the Intermark, you quickly forget that you are in a busy hotel complex. Gentle background music and warm furnishings along with an attractive open bar and wine room invite guests to relax, unwind and leave their cares behind.

With a wide selection of wines from around the world and a hearty English pub menu, the Cellar Door is a place to get comfortable and stay awhile. Initially I was unsure how traditional pub fare would go down with wine but as you will see the food is as elegant as the rest of the place! The Halal menu features a lovely selection of old favorites with refined flavors and presentation.
Chicken Kiev (RM36) – Large portions of tender breast meat bursting with garlic butter, encrusted and deep-fried. Paired with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, this dish makes a hearty dinner that you could share with a friend.
Ploughman’s Platter (RM36)– Elegantly served on a wood cutting board – duck and chicken pie, whole grain raisin bread and homemade chutney. Perfect with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Chicken Caesar Burger (RM30) – NOT your ordinary Chicken burger! This juicy patty is beautifully seasoned then topped with creamy Caesar salad, beef bacon and Parmesan cheese all on a freshly baked Kaiser roll. The unexpected hit of the night!

Beef Cottage Pie (RM36) – Big enough to feed at least two people, filled with perfectly seasoned meat and mixed vegetables then topped with creamy mashed potatoes. Takes me back to my childhood!

Sticky Toffee Pudding with Caramel Sauce (RM25) – A little indulgence to end the evening! Warm toffee served on the side for you to add as you like. The flavors are balanced, light, and perfectly sweet!

As with all traditional pub food, each dish we tasted was very “stodgy” – in the best sense of the word! If you have grown up with English comfort food this will satisfy that home cooking craving! And if you didn’t grow up with it, you will have to give it a try. On my next visit I am taking the whole family for Sunday lunch. The big portions will satisfy my growing kids and the all day Happy Hour prices are pleasing to mom and dad!
Throughout the meal we had a chance to try a few of the cocktails from the extensive list. When you order a classic cocktail it is nice to get exactly what you are expecting! The Whiskey Sour (RM28) had both a sweet and sour taste, with strong but smooth whiskey finish. The Mai Tai (RM32) had a fresh, fruity sweetness ans was served in a tall glass with lots of ice.

For simpler tastes and good value – Happy Hour is every Monday to Saturday from 5 – 9 pm. Guests are rewarded with 50 % off beer and mixed drinks.
Overall a great dining experience!
Reasons to visit: great value for money; good ambience; fine variety and quality of food.
