There’s nothing like a bubbly brunch to get into the spirit of celebration and joie de vivre, and Kuala Lumpur is by no means lacking in options to participate in this type of Sunday frolic. The Cobalt Room at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur is one of the newest restaurants to open its doors to such fun, and on a recent Sunday we had the pleasure of checking it out.
The restaurant is the hotel’s buffet outlet and as such is set up with various stations. Light bright surfaces, metallic paint and natural light gift the location a cheery feel, and the ambience is well aided by live music. A Bloody Mary is handed to guests upon arrival as they await an usher to accompany them to a table.
Free-flow Champagne (wine, beer or non-alcoholic beverages as you may choose) follows, and elegantly uniformed staff shower us with regular top-ups.
All that you’d expect to find on a 5 star hotel buffet, including international and local favourites, are provided in full spread.
What makes The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur stand out however in my opinion are the oysters, prime rib, gorgeous cheese selection and colourful array of desserts.
There’s not just one variety of oysters on display, but five! All are shucked to request and it sure is culinary entertainment to compare the quintet side by side. A plate of oysters and a glass of bubbly might just be enough for some.
Table service is on hand with the prime rib as it’s rolled around to each table and sliced succulently pink straight onto your plate. Yorkshire pudding and the usual sides go along with it.
Cheeses are clearly stored in optimum condition as they are in prime flavour and texture on the cheeseboard on display. A whole range of French cheeses from soft to hard and everything in between could also easily satisfy escorted solely by a glass of wine.
Do save space for dessert as there are at least 20 or more different temptations to try. Hubby loves the creme brulee, our dining companion oohs over the chocolate mousse cake, and I’m more than happy with a whopping bowl of fresh assorted berries.
Sunday Brunch in The Cobalt Room at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur is priced at RM198 for food only and RM398 nett including free flow wine, beer and Champagne. It runs every Sunday from 12 noon until 3pm.

Impressive spread…and live music. I like that. Looks like a jazz band there.
The prime rib, cheeses and freshly baked bread are all making my mouth water, and the band and employees look like they are enjoying themselves, which makes for a friendly and fun ambiance. 🙂
