The Yum List chats with Miko Tech, Founder of Effortless Beauty Malaysia and finds out about the whys and hows of her beauty tech company.
What do you do and how did you get into the industry?
I was previously the Country Manager of a Taiwanese based e-commerce solutions company. That’s where I picked up digital marketing and e-commerce skills. Then I started Effortless, a beauty tech company after realising a gap in the industry especially for busy working women who need to look and feel amazing.
Share with us an interesting story from behind the scenes.
We were contracted to do theme makeup for senior management of Eco World for their annual dinner event recently. The preparation prior to event day took us months, and it’s challenging to deliver results that are beyond expectation, especially when everyone has unique preferences. I still remember when Dato Teow, International President and CEO of Eco World, looked absolutely cute with his Mario King eyebrow and costume. In the end, everyone looked adorable and fabulous as ever!
What’s the best/ worst part of your job?
The best part is seeing happy customers who thank us for making them beautiful effortlessly. When we see the smiles on their faces, it means the world to us! There isn’t any worse part in my job when our team is passionate in helping women live their dreams. The only one for sure is making sure every appointment is assigned especially last minute booking!

What’s one of the most interesting things you’ve seen behind the scenes?
One of the most interesting things I’ve seen is when a client did her lash extensions so short to get the natural look that it looked like nothing had been done after the session! Thankfully our specialist is professional because she followed exactly what the customer wanted. The customer was happy with the end result and that is all that matters..
The perfect day off would be… Christmas day!
