I have to admit I’ve happily adapted to no shoes and day pyjamas over the MCO and am not particularly excited to return to fully dressing. While I have missed brunching with friends, I am in no hurry to put on make-up and blow dry my hair to do so. Enter W Kuala Lumpur and their fabulous idea of brunch delivery! Now I can have the best of both worlds – brunch with my mates in my PJs!

W Kuala Lumpur brings brunch to your doorstep with their latest delivery innovation, RETOX2GO. Samplings from their exciting modern Australian buffet are sent to your home. Be sure to have your friends ready upon its arrival as the spread is vast – you’ll need some help getting it inside.

Bubbly popped, personalised choice of music humming from our sound system, yoga pants on and boxers on, and this group of friends are ready to feast. The food delivered is like taking a walk around W’s brunch buffet without having to leave your seat. Key items from each section are included in the spread.

On Board

To get the show started, a board of Milky Whey cheeses – smoked gouda and Sarawak pepper goat cheese – are yummy pickings with fig jam. Charcuterie backs up the platter with chicken salami, air-dried beef bresaola, olives and cherry tomatoes.

Duck rillettes and chicken liver pate give a little taste of France, but it’s the beetroot-cured salmon baby bagels that are hit in our house. Along with the paprika and seed lavosh sticks that are excellent scoops for beetroot hummus and baba ganoush, we’re off to a brilliant beginning. House-made artisan bread (baguette and olive) is a nice addition too.

Chilled Seafood

Perhaps the highlight of the spectacular is the seafood. Four halved lobster tails, eight steamed tiger prawns and eight steamed mussels tempt ocean eaters. Along with nam jim (Thai dressing), cocktail sauce and fresh lemon, it sure contributes to a luxurious morning.

Sushi

Continuing with the fruits of the sea, a generous platter of sushi consists of California maki rolls and an assortment of nigiri – crab salad, inari, tobiko and tuna mayo. Of course, pickled ginger, soy sauce and wasabi are all provided.

Rotisserie

From the oven, you can choose two of three alternatives (beef, chicken and fish). We’ve got the garlic and herb butter roasted chicken (900g) and salt-baked whole seabass (700g). We don’t find a use for the Sarawak peppercorn sauce, mushroom sauce, mustard and salsa verde but do keep them in the fridge to perk up our meals for the rest of the week.

On the Side

There are plenty of veggies on the side to balance out the proteins with butter-loaded potato puree, oven-roasted vegetables, and an organic mixed green salad with radish, tomato, cucumber and herbs dressed in a lemon vinaigrette.

Dessert

Dessert has not been forgotten. Although, we could have easily let it slide with the feast before us. Still, it’s worth saving at least a little tummy space for the red berries burnt baked cheesecake. Gorgeously crowned with fresh berries, the texture is dense and creamy. It’s a beauty.
