Tucked away on the second floor of Intermark Mall, JO Nails & Spa offers a quiet and relaxing setting to get your nails done. They are also offering The Yum List readers a 10% discount on all services until the end of October 2020.
Glass windows give a peek inside through 100s of bottles of coloured nail polish. Soft white walls and fancy leather studded lounges are lit by a warm chandelier. The style supports the feeling of being pampered like royalty as two therapists work away on hands and feet.
Today I have both my hands and my feet taken care of with a manicure, pedicure and hand spa. First old polish is removed and my hands and feet get a soak in warm water and a good scrub before the rest begins.
Following the initial cleansing, the nails on my hands and feet are filed to the desired shape. Cuticles are removed (I usually ask for mine to be pushed back rather than cut) and my feet especially get a serious dead skin removal with a file. Soon, both sets of extremities are lathered in a mud mask and wrapped in plastic. I nod off for a few minutes as the moisturizing mask does its work.
Gel Manicure & Pedicure with Nail Art
There are plenty of colours to choose from, both gel and regular polish. I often feel overwhelmed with too much choice but the ladies working today are happy to assist. I narrow it down to a few choices and head manicurist, Janice, does the rest.
She suggests something brighter on my toes and a style that is more subtle on my fingernails. A medley of bright pinks and sparkles light up my feet, while more subdued hues of salmon and glimmer add panache to my hands.
I’m surprised at how quickly the nail art can be completed. Janice’s hands are expert in their application. She paints on the design in layers with a fine paintbrush and then sets each application under the UV light.

JO Nails & Spa in Intermark Mall is a convenient spot to get your nails done. The supermarket downstairs is a popular place to pick up groceries and there is plenty of safe undercover parking. The team are friendly and intuitively continue a conversation or offer quiet depending on the client. Janice is skilled in nail art and I’m very happy with my pretty nails. I will definitely return.
