No doubt Christmas 2020 will be celebrated a little differently than in the past. While Facebook and Google Photos are sending me “memories” from a year ago, we are busy making our own unique, albeit smaller, moments to cherish for years to come. Rockafellers Kitchen + Bar in Changkat is one outlet helping us to curate more intimate gatherings with their Christmas Takeaway Family Platter.
Christmas Takeaway KL 2020
Christmas goodies from Rockafeller’s Kitchen + Bar are available now until January 1, 2021. Preorders are already being taken and a minimum of three days prior to the preferred date of delivery is required. There’s free delivery if you live within a 15km radius of the restaurant in Changkat Bukit Bintang, and a 50% non-refundable deposit is necessary when placing orders.
Rockafeller’s Christmas Takeaway Family Platter
Multiple options are available on their Christmas takeaway KL menu for 2020 but today we try Rockafeller’s Christmas Takeaway Family Platter. It’s an incredible feast of roasted crispy pork belly, BBQ pork ribs with honey glaze, assorted sausages, roasted whole stuffed chicken, and generous servings of sauces and sides. The feast is an incredibly good value at RM348 nett and serves six to eight people. Seriously, at that price (and taste – very good), why on earth would you spend hours of labour in shopping and cooking?
We can’t fault any of the roasted meats. All are extraordinarily tender, clearly prepared by experts and well-balanced in flavour. The chicken is moist all the way through. The pork is equal parts meat and fat with a crisp crackling, and the ribs are cliché fall-off-the-bone and finger-licking saucy. There’s an assortment of sausages, and if I paid more attention, I might be able to tell you what each were made of, but honestly, I was enjoying this feast with friends and only recall them all being tasty and gobbled up until all gone.
On the side, if you care, were carrots, baked onions, broccoli, roasted potatoes and Yorkshire pudding (yummy) accompanied by cranberry sauce, gravy, mustard and house-made chilli sauce. Their chilli sauce and mustard add a bit of heat to the meal, while their brown gravy and sticky rib sauce gets used on more than just the meats – bread and potato make excellent excuses for a double scoop.

A takeaway is a good idea, but we prefer not to have to go out on Christmas day to get a meal. Getting the car out and driving to the nearest town is a pain Not even sure we would get a takeaway meal anywhere near us! I will prepare as much as I can on the 24th and just finish it off on the 25th.
