Maria’s SteakCafe is providing two options to help you woo a loved one this Valentine’s Day. One is a cook-at-home menu, and the other is a ready-to-go four-course set. We try out the latter and upgrade with a bottle of wine to complete the evening.

Appetizer
Petite rolls of smoked salmon kick off the set. They’re adorned with capers, a drizzle of olive oil and sided with a handful of greens. It’s a fresh and tasty start.
Soup
The soup comes in a duo of mushroom and pumpkin. They’re straightforward recipes with plenty of veg and no (or very little) thickening agent other than the vegetables and fungi themselves.
Valentine’s Menu 2021 – Mains
Of six mains – three steak, a cod and a lamb – you can select two. We opt for the Australian Hereford Rib Eye (RM 140, 220 g) and Atlantic White Cod (RM 125). True to Maria Steakcafe’s style, they are both simply prepared celebrating the premium quality of the core ingredients.
The steak is charbroiled and seasoned with a sprinkling of salt and pepper. Lovely long sprigs of asparagus and deep-fried potato strings finish the plate. The cod is done in a light and mildly sweet sake sauce. Sides of roasted potatoes and sauteed mixed veggies make for a healthy meal.
Dessert
Besides steak, Maria’s SteakCafe is also known for its homemade selection of cakes. Two moist cubes of chocolate cake end this Valentine’s Menu 2021 with a sweet and home-felt conclusion.
Wine
Customers have the option of topping up their meal with a bottle of wine; either the Vineyard Reserve (RM 145) or Finca San Martin (RM 210). We’re rather fond of tempranillo and tried this pairing on our most recent visit to Maria’s Signature in KLCC, so it’s the Spanish wine for us. It boasts lovely aromatics of strawberries, ripe dark fruit and a spot of spice thanks to ageing on oak. It’s a well-balanced wine with good structure, fine tannins and a fresh lingering aftertaste.

Maria’s Steakcafe’s Valentine’s Menu 2021 is available from February 6th until the 21st. The set meal price is based on your choice of main, starting at RM 100 for the lamb and heading up to RM 540 for the Satsuma Wagyu A5 Striploin.
