Face Gym & Carboxytherapy – Latelle Facial Bar

Face Gym & Carboxytherapy

Monica Tindall

Not only has Latelle Facial Bar recently undergone a rebranding (formerly L’Estetica Facial Bar), but it has also added new treatments to the menu. The aesthetics centre was already offering a comprehensive range of facials and beauty treatments. However, the addition of the latest skincare technology and products, such as Face Gym and Carboxytherapy, really make it stand out from the crowd.

Face Gym

One of the recent additions to Latelle Facial Bar’s menu is that of Face Gym. That’s right, a workout for your face! Three types are available: Manual Sculpt (RM 210, 45 min), Signature Sculpt (RM 300, 60 min), and Power Lift (RM 360, 75 min).

All include cleansing, toner, a manual face massage, a mask, moisturiser and sunblock. The Signature Sculpt increases the intensity with a Gua Sha face sculpt and customised mask. The Power Lift takes it a notch further with micro-current muscle stimulation, and an MT Metatron Activate mask. If you’ve had Botox, the latter is not recommended, and the first two should only be considered at least two weeks (or more) after filler. (Of course, consult with your doctor first.)

I try the Signature Sculpt with Ivis. She is confident in her technique, and I feel wonderfully revitalised afterwards. The highlight here is the use of Gua Sha. This is a Chinese practice of applying pressure to specific points as well as “scraping” away tension. A smooth, hard tool that looks like polished marble is used to massage the face and neck. It is said to improve circulation, boost lymphatic drainage and relieve pain. I found it incredibly relaxing. Enjoying a firmer massage style, this worked especially well on my neck and shoulders, with the strong strokes pushing out the tightness.

Carboxytherapy

Another newly added facial is Carboxytherapy (RM 580, 90 min). It is said to gift an instant glow effect and is suitable for all skin types. My therapist advises that it’s particularly good after laser treatment, as it stimulates healing. As I’ve just had the PicoSure Laser, this seems a good fit.

Japanese cosmetics brand, Forlle’d, is central to the facial. They claim to use a Nobel Prize-winning method to achieve four patented technologies: Low Molecular Ionized Hyaluronic Acid, Ionized Minerals, Low Molecular Platinum and Low Molecular Ceramides. Because of the molecules’ tiny size, Forlle’d’s active ingredients are transported non-invasively to deeper layers of the skin.

There are seven steps in Carboxytherapy.

  1. Forlle’d signature double cleansing
  2. Stimulate stem cell differentiation
  3. Moisturisation, even skin tone and antioxidant protection
  4. Massage to improve circulation and restore hydro-lipid film
  5. Carboxytherapy mask (intensive antioxidant protection, deep hydration, anti-inflammatory brightening
  6. Nourishment
  7. Protection

The combination of my therapist’s confident circular movements and silky-smooth products induces a state of complete relaxation. She directs the creams in “Cs” and “Os” in upward motions, seemingly encouraging my skin to lift. The deep cleanse allows the later nutrients to more deeply penetrate the skin.

Carboxytherapy Results

Under the surface, the products promise to protect against free radicals, fight pigmentation and stimulate collagen production. The antibacterial and astringent properties ensure a deep clean. Immediately apparent are an intense moisturising and “glow” effect. My skin is radiant.

Lash Lift

Latelle Facial Bar also provides several beauty treatments such as Lash Lifts (RM180, 60 minutes) on top of facials. I love lash extensions but find they are not the best for the health of my lashes. As an alternative, the lash lift takes a regular curl and tint one step further. Besides the shape and colour, keratin solution is painted onto the hairs to enrich and strengthen the lashes. The session is comfortable, nothing like it was years ago that left eyes stinging from tint. In fact, it’s another hour I spend most of the time snoozing.
