Indian Food Delivery and Takeaway KL – Jhann

Despite going through incredibly trying times themselves, numerous businesses are offering discounts for those who have been vaccinated. While it might seem a small gesture, these actions add up. The influx of positivity is, if not contagious, at least appreciated. Jhann KL is one such business offering encouragement with a 10% discount off their Indian food delivery and takeaway menu for anyone who has been vaccinated who orders via their WhatsApp.

If you have not yet visited Jhann in Damansara Heights, I highly recommend keeping it on your list for when we are allowed out once again. It is one of the most stylish Indian restaurants I’ve been to. Take a sneak peek here. For now, however, we’re reminded of good times spent in the lovely setting with their delicious cuisine delivered to our home.

The Veggies

You know I’m a big veg fan and would be happy to eat nothing but plants, so I’m always appreciative of solid meat-free recipes. The team at Jhann has several on their Indian food delivery and takeaway menu.

The Curried Cauliflower (RM 30) is creamy and mouthwatering in a vibrant orange curry. Lasooni Dhal (RM 19) goes fantastically well with warm Garlic Naan (RM 8). (* I recommend heating the naan in the oven for a few minutes for optimum texture.) However, the yellow lentils are gently flavoured with garlic and so good that I’m happy just for a spoon. You can’t go wrong with Palak Paneer (RM 29), especially when the cheese and everything else is made in house. It’s another dish that goes well over rice or bread but is also perfectly spoonable on its own.

Rice

I love the contemporary options at Jhann. Basmathi, pulau and saffron rice are all available as sides, as is Cauliflower Rice (RM 19). The cauli rice provides a low-carb and gluten-free option. This is very tasty. I highly recommend you get this in your order.

I’m glad the Roti Jala with Chicken Tikka Curry (RM 20) was a generous portion as hubby wastes no time digging in. The delicate lace pancakes are perfect sponges for the thick and flavourful curry. While the roasted chunks of chicken bathe in the gravy, they still maintain a texture of their own.

The spiciest dish on our Indian food delivery menu today was the Oxtail Curry (RM 58). Abundant in fresh herbs such as lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves, the flavours are vibrant yet well-balanced with the velvety gravy. No complaints about portion size here either.

Lastly, the Chicken Kohinara Pasta (RM 20) is a smart bridge between Indian and Italian. Flat linguine strings are coated with chicken gravy. Al dente in firmness, the pasta holds the sauce well. This too is fresh with spice. Unlike the rest of our dishes (where you’d want to order several items to share), this could be a meal all on its own. Great value for money, I think. Additionally, there’s a cheesy story to go with it. It came about when founder Kohinara would spend much time hanging out in Jhann. Some days she didn’t want the same menu but got cravings for pasta. The chef cheekily came up with an Indian-inspired pasta and named it after Kohinara – smooth and creamy but still spicy and whiny. (We hear the chef is still with the restaurant, keeping the founder in her place 😉

Wine

I’m always happy when wine can conveniently be ordered at the same time as food delivery. Currently, Jhann has two house pours (red and white) for RM 105 and RM 90 respectively. Grand Estates, Columbia Crest, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2016, is a bold red with complexity and structure. Loads of fruit on the nose and in the palate woven with chocolate and vanilla make it a good match for meatier dishes such as the ox. Crisp and aromatic with an abundance of tropical fruit and citrus, the Mount Olympus, Sauvignon Blanc, 2017 makes an excellent apertive but also does nicely with many of the veg dishes in our order.

  1. I’m a big fan of veggies, just planted some fennel in garden.
Coffee is on and stay safe

  2. Definitely a menu that warrants many returns to take advantage of everything. I love curry and these entrees are delish!

  3. I had Indian takeaway yesterday, not from my favourite place…but here, we do not have a lot of choices. Too few Indians, can’t complain.

  4. I like Indian food ❤
