My first encounter with Christina, proprietor of La Boheme Spa in Plaza Damansara, has me at ease and feeling confident about the session ahead of me. With a near-decade of experience in the beauty industry in Malaysia and her home country Moldova, Christina brings a warm spirit and expert technique to the local spa scene.

While treatments offered at La Boheme are sure to improve the quality of your skin, Christina insists that beauty begins within. By providing a calm, relaxing environment, guests are encouraged to revive and reconnect with themselves. She coaxes her clients to use the space as a haven, forgetting outside worries while here and learning to listen to their bodies and inner selves. She says that when you wind down, relax and are inspired, you begin the journey of discovering your most radiant “You”.

La Boheme is not just a place to have a body treatment or facial; Christina and her team aim to raise their clients’ confidence, happiness and wellbeing. I feel cared for here. I don’t have to worry about a thing. I am in the capable hands of Christina and her colleague Gee in an empowering and enlightened space.

Harmonizing with nature is the focus of treatments as well as the décor at La Boheme. The light, bright reception was decked out by Christina herself. Her love of natural materials is evident in every detail. One wall of the spa is a floor-to-ceiling window framing vibrant greenery. Inside, two sitting areas are joined by soft lighting and natural fabrics.

Guests are greeted with tea and welcomed into the space. Christina or Gee explain and guide guests through the menu, helping each person to choose something that best suits their individual needs and desires. For me, I’m wanting to destress and have a good cleanse of my skin – the extensive wearing of face masks over the past two years has really taken its toll. The team recommends a Biologique Recherche Facial and the Ultimate Destress Massage.

Biologique Recherche Facial

Incredible sculpting massage using uplifting semi-circular motions developed by Christina lifts and tones skin in the facial. Biologique Recherche products further assist in toning, refining, exfoliating, moisturizing and in general revitalizing skin. Many claim that the effects of facials are seen cumulatively. However, in this instance, I see a notable change immediately following the session. Not only do my pores appear smaller, my skin is clean and moist, but I feel that, in some way, my face is not as droopy. Sounds impossible, right, from a facial alone? But, I swear, my skin feels pumped and is glowing. I don’t need any foundation today. The products and massage have worked their magic.

Christina supports this by sharing her observations. She has found that with a certain type of massage, she can also see notable changes in skin condition. She maintains that several studies reveal that facial structure and skin tone are most notable in a youthful experience. She says that surprisingly, a lack of wrinkles fairs much lower on the list. I believe a combination of Christina’s unique technique, building on the foundations of international facial wisdom and the superb French products is why I see such immediate results.

Ultimate Destress Massage

Gee is in charge of my massage. This program has been specially designed to release muscle tension and calm and revive the mind, body and soul. G constantly checks on my comfort level – temperature, pressure, music, all okay? I have a choice of aromatherapy essential oils for the massage, of which I chose lemon myrtle. This fragrance not only reminds me of my home in Australia but uplifts the spirit with its fresh, crisp, rejuvenating scent.

Biologique Recherche Products

As you’ve already read, the team at La Boheme use a range from Biologique Recherche for their facials. Soon, clients will also be able to purchase the products on site. It’s the perfect way to try before you buy. Additionally, an expert can recommend what would work best for your skin – no more guessing. You can have professional, detailed assistance in person.

Biologique Recherche products use plant, bio marine and biotechnological extracts at very high concentrations, over 20% in most formulas. The absence of synthetic fragrances makes them less likely to cause allergies and more suitable for sensitive skin. Cold pressing of the active ingredients means the original structure and benefits of active ingredients are maintained. Christina adds that the formulas are ideal for the warm, humid weather we experience in Malaysia. They are lightweight and hence don’t clog the pores.

La Boheme Review

I’ve had an incredibly relaxing and productive time at La Boheme. I leave feeling physically recharged and note an immediate improvement in the appearance of my skin. Christina sets the standards high with technique, product and environment. I highly recommend a visit for those new to facials and old hats alike.

  2. I can just sit there to admire that giant yellow flamboyant tree! One of my favourite trees in Malaysia.
