Eyebrow Nanoblading KL – Nanobrows with Sara Brows & Beauty

Monica Tindall

About three and a half years ago, I tried microblading for the first time, and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. I modelled in my 20s, and make-up artists forever plucked my “sad” brows. This left me with half an eyebrow. The other piece would be drawn on to complement my features. Not on the runway anymore and short on time, the semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo was a godsend, doing away with the need to fill in my brow daily.

Naturally, the ink faded over time, and I was back to shaping my eyebrows with a pencil. So, it was time for a touch-up and a look at the latest beauty developments for better brows.

Semi-permanent Brow Tattoos

Semi-permanently marking your face is not something to take lightly or to stinge on costs. The mildly invasive procedure deserves thorough research, a highly skilled technician and top-notch products. I’ve heard unfortunate stories of asymmetrical brows, pigment turning blue, green or red, and even infections following the treatment. I found Sara Brows & Beauty recommended in several expatriate circles for her eyebrow enhancement technique – nanobrows. She seemed to tick all the boxes for a positive experience.

Sara explains that facial features, age, race and skin type must be considered when customising eyebrows for nanoblading. She even says the hair growth pattern for different races is unique. She stresses the importance of premium products and imports all of hers directly from reputable suppliers in Europe and the USA. She is also fastidious about hygiene, not cutting a single corner to ensure safety and first-class standards.

Microblading vs Nanobrows

The technique for nanobrows is similar to microblading; only the needle is smaller, giving precision and finer lines creating a more natural look. Nanobrows can be created on most skin types and because of the smaller incisions, there is a reduced likelihood of scarring compared to microblading. It’s said to last up to two years.

Process

The process begins with cleansing and numbing cream application. While the cream is left to work its magic, Sara sits with clients over tea or decaf coffee (best not to have caffeine prior) to discuss expectations and possibilities and answer any questions.

Sara uses Phi: the Golden Ratio, to manually draft the eyebrows. A BB Compass assists in designing a shape individually suited to each face. This is then checked with a digital application ensuring measurements are accurate and symmetrical. The process takes around 40 minutes, and the time is well spent providing the foundation for the rest of the session.

Then the application begins. Laying comfortably on the treatment bed, I barely felt the first few incisions. The numbing cream was effective in minimising the sensation to a light pressure. Sara marked tiny lines mimicking hair growth with the nanoblading machine, filling them with ink mixed to match my natural colour. I was relaxed throughout the session and even drifted off once or twice. It wasn’t until the final few cuts that I felt any discomfort, and it actually served well to stir me to reawaken from my relaxed state.

Nanobrows Results

The results were dramatic. You can see for yourself the before and after photos below. Not only do the eyebrows look neat and well-shaped thanks to the nanoblading, but I think the shape of my face and eyes appear uplifted, too, thanks to the eyebrow frame.

How long does eyebrow nanoblading take?

You should allow up to four hours to complete the session.

Is eyebrow nanoblading painful?

As mentioned, because of the high-quality numbing cream and Sara’s masterful technique, I found 90% of the session relaxing. It was only the final few strokes that caused any sting, but that was more a sensation of discomfort than pain. Immediately following the eyebrow nanoblading, my skin felt a slight sting and was sensitive. This disappeared in less than 24 hours.

Is there any downtime?

Depending on your skin’s sensitivity, you should feel comfortable being seen in public on the same day as the treatment. However, the eyebrows change in the first month, going from very dark in the first few days to very light, pretty even, possibly patchy and then perfected after one month in the touch-up session (a shorter appointment where Sara perfects the brows after healing). The changes are normal and part of the healing process.

Nanobrows Post-care

Sara sent me instructions and photos for the care of my eyebrows post-treatment. I was advised not to wet them for three days and then to wash them gently and apply the supplied lotion with a cotton bud. It’s also recommended to avoid anything that makes you sweat excessively, such as intense exercise and saunas, and to avoid swimming. Basically, keep your brows clean and dry for healthy healing.

  1. I’d need to go for something like this too. My eyebrows are an absolute disaster! LOL!!!

  2. Pluck and thin eye brows was quite the thing when I was young.
Coffee is on and stay safe

  3. I have been contemplating to go for brow tattoo. Concern on the result, pain etc. Gosh. I never did it. Just been to salon last week, getting hair treatment and brow plucking. The girl commented on me being over plucking one side of my brows. Lol.

  4. I remember you having this done 3 years ago and I thought then how I wished I could have it done. My white eye brows and eyelashes are the pain of my life. I dye them myself about every 3 to 4 weeks.
A very Happy New Year to you. May it be a healthy and happy year. Cheers Diane
