Red Beanbag Menara Mudajaya is not your ordinary cafe. With its deep-rooted influence from Australian cafe culture, this independent Malaysian brand and coffee roastery has successfully captured the essence of the Aussie brunch experience in a lovely neighbourhood of Mutiara Damansara.

Since its inception in 2011 at Publika, Red Beanbag has remained committed to its passion for specialty coffee, delectable food, and excellent service. Over the past decade, the cafe has evolved into a community-based establishment located in Menara Mudajaya, Mutiara Damansara, catering to the needs of families, particularly parents and young children, in the fast-paced urban lifestyle of the 21st century. Families should be delighted by the large play area on the mezzanine level and the cosy dedicated nursing room. A shaded outdoor, garden-lined patio is also pleasant early morning.

Co-founded by husband and wife duo Lee Yew Kheong and Hai Lin Lee, Red Beanbag has embraced the concept of integrating work, play, life, learning, and teaching in the same space. This vision has become even more relevant in the wake of the recent pandemic, as the cafe strives to adapt to the community’s evolving needs and become an integral part of their lives. The team aims to provide the best experience to all its patrons with a fusion of Aussie-inspired recipes and warm hospitality.

One of the highlights of Red Beanbag Menara Mudajaya is its all-day brunch menu, a signature characteristic of Aussie cafes. Indulge in the RBB French Toast (RM 27), a delightful dish consisting of crunchy-edged brioche French toast topped with strawberries, blueberries, lemon curd (generous dollops and just the right amount of tang), and Biscoff crumbs. Another vegetarian recipe, the Avo Mushroom (RM 32) offers a tantalising combination of avocados, sautéed portobello and brown mushrooms, pesto, semi-dried tomatoes, and chives on toasted sourdough (from Universal Bakers – delicious).

If you’re in the mood for some grazing and sharing, the Moo-chachos (RM 24) is a hearty choice. Crispy nachos are served with a creative twist – pulled beef rendang, tomatoes, cheese, jalapeños, and mozzarella.

When it comes to mains, the Clowngaroo Serves section of the menu will not disappoint. Sink your teeth into the Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwich (RM 26), a grilled sourdough masterpiece filled with Monterey jack, gruyère, cheddar, mozzarella, chicken pepperoni, wilted baby spinach, and homemade tomato chutney. It’s made on exceptional bread and high-quality melted cheese – a winning combo. Another crowd favourite is the RBB Beef Burger (RM 38), a grilled Angus beef patty accompanied by thick slices of portobello mushroom, spinach, a fried egg, cheddar cheese, aioli, and homemade tomato chutney (the perfect addition), served alongside skin-on fries.

To satisfy your sweet tooth, Red Beanbag offers Emu’s Sweet Treats. Try the PB & J Pancakes (RM 26), a stack of homemade pancakes generously spread with smooth peanut butter (the lovely stick-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth kind) and mixed berry compote, topped with fresh strawberries and blueberries. 

Furthermore, there are two handfuls of wholesome, low-sugar and low-sodium choices for the kids (and the good thing is, adults are allowed to order them, too!). Jirenboo’s Heathy Brekkie (RM 28), affectionately named after the owners’ son, is the child’s version of a big breakfast. Two cute little pancake rounds are decorated with fruit to make a face and accompanied by pure almond butter, banana, berries, pear, orange, Greek yoghurt berry pot with quinoa oats, avocado and a hard-boiled egg. 

Of course, no visit to Red Beanbag Menara Mudajaya would be complete without exploring their extensive drink menu. The Flat White (RM 13) is a must-try for coffee aficionados, showcasing Red Beanbag’s dedication to quality brews on their house-roasted beans. If you prefer dairy-free and an alternative to coffee, the Oatmilk Chai Latte (RM 16) offers a comforting and mildly sweet beverage. For a refreshing option, the Kantan Fizz (RM 16), is sure to quench your thirst. The zesty mix of cucumber, ginger, ginger flower and lemon is icy cold and has a great crisp finish.
