Following the successful debut of the Japanese-themed Hanami Wellness in Puchong, we had the privilege of visiting the newly opened signature outlet, Hanami Reserve Onsen Spa, in Kuala Lumpur. This exclusive establishment is located in the heart of KL city centre, along Jalan Kemuning, near the burgeoning Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), Kuala Lumpur’s new financial hub.
As soon as we stepped into the spa foyer, we were greeted by a massive screen displaying a tranquil flowing creek and nature sounds. The minimalist Zen design invokes an immediate sense of relaxation. The moment we entered, we began to unwind, and our stresses started to fade. Inspired by the four seasons of Japan (spring, summer, autumn, and winter), this onsen spa changes tea, aromas, and snacks in accordance with the season.
Hanami Reserve Onsen Spa Kuala Lumpur Services
Hanami Reserve Onsen Spa Kuala Lumpur offers a range of services, including onsen, single, couple and group rooms, massage, reflexology, and bespoke facial spa treatments. In the near future, they will also have merchandise available for purchase.
Shangri-La Package Duo Package
We opted for the Shangri-La Duo Package (RM 960), which includes 40 minutes of Japanese onsen, 60 minutes of deep tissue full-body massage, and a 50-minute facial for two people. First-time visitors are treated to a 25% discount, bringing the cost down to RM 720.
Onsen Bath
In this reserve outlet, all rooms are equipped with an onsen bath. The mineralised water is said to improve blood circulation, lessen muscle pain and improve skin condition. Our journey began with a 40-minute immersion in a comforting Japanese-style hot bath, set at 38-40 degrees and infused with minerals and scents corresponding to the current autumn season. Cut fruit, Chinese herbal tea, water and cold towels were included to remind us to stay hydrated in the heat.
Rebalance (Full Body Deep Tissue Massage)
Monica and I experienced a Balinese-style massage to melt away the stress from our bodies. The skilled hands of Dewi and Desi, two Indonesian masseurs, worked wonders in releasing tension from our muscles and tissues. I left the treatment feeling revitalised, especially after an intense tennis workout the day before.
Bespoke Facial
For those with time constraints, the Shangri La Duo Package offers the option of combining your facial treatment with your body massage, saving at least 30 minutes. We decided to go for the four-handed treatment simultaneously, which was sensational! After the first segment of the massage was complete, and we could lie supine, the 50-minute facial session began. It was the standard routine of cleansing, scrubbing (no extraction), masking and moisturise. It provided a hydration boost and included red-light therapy to repair damaged skin. The results were a natural lift and a healthy glow.
