Taman Tun Market, TTDI, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

This is the guy to buy your pork from.  Tell him what you want to make and he will tell you which cut you need.

 Fresh tofu – very good.

Get your baking supplies from here.  Much cheaper than the supermarket and they have everything!

Here’s the spot from where to get your chicken.  Cut however you like and you can even get free range organic chooks.

Fresh, fresh fruit.  Venezuelans, carribenos – the store in front of this one sells plantains and yuka!

The spice lady will make your own mixes from scratch.  Especially great are her Thai curries.  Buy some curry paste here and pair with fresh coconut milk from the stall in front.  Yum!

Buy your fish from this guy!  He’ll tell you what’s fresh, debone, descale, fillet – whatever you want.

Here’s your butcher.  Australian beef – much cheaper than supermarkets and cut/ ground to order.

Yes, you can get fresh flowers too.

More fresh herbs and veges.

This undercover market is open most days and is a cleaner and cooler alternative to many wet markets around town.  The bonus is it’s open until after midday so there’s no need to get up at some ungodly hour on the weekend to get fresh produce. There’s undercover or open air parking for a minimal fee – free on Sundays – and easy to get to too. If you’re coming from the Sprint Highway, take the TTDI exit and follow Jalan Datuk Sulaiman all the way to the end, make a right hand turn after the last set of lights and you’ll see a multistory building with a reddish brown roof and lots of cars entering and exiting.

Open 7 days, 7:30am – 12:30pm

  1. Wow. You come all the way to this market? Next time wander up to the top floor and you will find roti canai, thosai and appam made on the spot. There is a small shop too upstairs that sells dainty Malay kueh.

  2. Boo – I'm prepared to travel if it means I don't have to get out of bed so early! Loved this place. Can't believe I only discovered it last year, 7 years after arriving. Maybe next trip I'll plan breakfast upstairs. Thanks for the tips!

  3. Wow… Thanks for this. I didn't realise it was so close to us in Bangsar… I am going on Friday!

  4. Hi. Do you know exactly where the baking suppy store is and what the name is? I've been looking for some pans and I see it on the pics you posted. Thans

    • Can't remember the name but it's the same level as the fruit and veg. As you come up the stairs from the pork section below and are facing the plant guy at the top of the stairs on the same level of the fruit and veg, turn left and it is down that aisle. There is a lady selling tofu right next door just before you arrive to the baking store.

  5. TTDI Market is so much cleaner than the markets I frequent.

Would always buy that flat, square yellow tofu whenever I'm in the vicinity. =)

  6. anybody know if the ttdi market sells brown button mushrooms, and are they lower in price than supermarkets? looking to start a food stall, looking for suppliers. thanks!
