Tree Monkey, Batu Feringgi, Penang, Thai, Cocktails, tapas, best restaurant, casualEpic sunsets, easy connections with friends and cocktails with a kick keep us returning to the serene natural canopies of Tree Monkey. Afternoons tend to turn into evenings. The ambience and music changes throughout the day. Lunch is bright upbeat and picturesque. Sun rays stream through the natural blinds of the leaves, and monkeys swing from branch to trunk to the sounds of chill Putumayo tunes at dusk. As the skies darken and the air cools, the evenings pick up a romantic mood for some, and sense of adventure for others. Thai owner, Wasika (who always has a cheeky twinkle in her eye), says the concept embraces the relationship with the four elements – wind, earth, water, fire (from the sun) plus the
monkeys! For a lengthier review see this past post: 12 April, 2012. This visit, just some mouth watering photos of Thai tapas and refreshments.
Reason to visit: Spectacular natural setting with picturesque sunsets, cocktails with a kick, Thai tapas

  1. Oooo…I would want to come here. Love the food, love Thai food… Wah! Morning Glory, can eat one kah? Never knew that… Oh! It's kangkong, is it? Oooo…the stuffed crab shells! Dying to have a good one!!!

  2. What a nice resort! I always take the tempura morning glory whenever I travel to Thailand. Really good!

  3. That does look so tasty, definitely something I need to try

  4. dine with the monkeys…sound dangerous 😛

  5. so how was the miang kham? Many years ago during my school days, one of my classmates who is from Thai descent, found these leaves (this plant belonged to a nearby house owner) growing near our rented place during one of our strolls and we hurriedly plucked these leaves and ran like mad home, and my friend made this fabulous miang kam and we had that for dinner. 😛

    • What a lovely story. I've only just discovered miang kham in the last five years of so. This one is great and is Bangkok style as the owner if from the capital.

  6. the monkeys are the cool factor! though i'd be a bit wary first about whether it's possible they might mischievously try to steal our food! 😀

    • The monkeys swing by in the later hours of the afternoon and although I haven't seen them at the tables, they definitely eye the kitchen. The owners have installed monkey proof bamboo walls all around the prep area. Yes, cool factor indeed – they have their own natural circus.
