Valentine’s Menu at Favola, Le Meridien
Rich, bold hues and textures adorn the private dining room at Favola, Le Meridien. Dramatic red and maroon curtains drape from the high ceilings and black and white wall murals with bursts of red depict Venetian architecture and classical masquerade parties. Sculptures and giant vases add interest and, heartfelt Italian tunes caress the air. The long wooden tables are set with red tumblers and blanketed with rose petals. The room is ready for Valentine’s Day and so is the kitchen.
Chefs at Favola Italian Restaurant, have created a Valentine Ti Amo menu, sharing passion and the love of good food as only Italians know how. Possibly the most creative Italian menu I’ve devoured this season, Favola is tagged by The Yum List as one of our top choices to dine for this year’s celebration of amore and friendship.
Homemade bread is a sure sign of a positive start and Favola serves up a duo of soft bread (focaccia with a bite of chilli and Ciabatta softly floured), a trio of hard breadsticks (cheese, rye and puffy) and a trio of dips (olive oil and balsamic, beetroot and, celery and apple).

The Valentine Ti Amo menu begins with an aperitivo, Espuma di Patate Salame Filo Manzo e Parmigiano Nuvola – potato foam with beef salami floss and a Parmesan cloud. Potato
dominates the airy fluff providing nothing to chew, but rather a curious
sensation of flavoured air that disappears in the mouth upon contact. The
sprinkling of beef generates texture, which too vanishes in seconds.

The antipasto follows in the form of Insalata di Aragosta del Maine, Tonno Scottato in Crosta Chermoula, Decapaggio Ravanello e Hering Caviale Perla Sorbetto di Pomodoro – salad of Maine lobster, seared chermoula crusted tuna, rose pickling radish and herring pearl caviar on tomato sorbet. Attention to individual plating is more and more evident as the meal progresses. This dish arrives on a long thin platter with the three dishes uniquely portioned – sorbet in glass lidded bowl, tuna a perfect rectangular prism atop wafer-thin slices of radish, and the citrusy seafood salad hiding amongst a bed of bushy lettuce.

Trota Salmonata Curati Scottato con Salsiccia Gambero, Tortelli di Zucca, Nero di Seppia Maionese e Scatto Pisello – pan-seared cured salmon trout with prawn sausage, pumpkin tortelli, squid ink mayo and snap peas is the ocean selection. This beautiful spring-themed platter is swept with a fat paintbrush stroke of squid ink mayonnaise and speckled with micro-greens, petite peas and rounds of red and yellow vegetables.
