Recipe for Shangri-La Pimm’s Cup Cocktail, Arthur’s Bar, KL

This version of the classic British cocktail was created at Arthur’s Bar & Grill for its opening on Christmas Eve 2010. The original cocktail is served with ginger ale whereas this edition is mixed with Sprite and, Shiso Shochu is added in order to bring smoothness and freshness to this pretty masculine drink.

Pimm’s No. 1 is a gin-based potation made in England from dry gin, liqueur, fruit juices, and spices. It was created in the mid-18th century by English oyster bar owner James Pimm. The recipe is still a secret; supposedly, only six people know exactly how it is made. It has a dark, golden brown color, a medium body, and a taste of quinine, citrus fruits, and spice. Its low alcohol content of only 25 percent has made Pimm’s a drink to have when you are having more than one.

Shangri-La’s Pimm’s Cup Cocktail

40ml Pimm’s No 1
20ml Shiso Shochu
100ml Sprite

  1. Fill rock glass with ice.
  2. Add Pimm’s, Shiso Shochu and top up with Sprite.
  3. Stir and garnish with a slice of cucumber, two slices of orange, raspberries, blackberries and mint leaves.

Easy and fast to prepare, this cocktail is the ideal gathering drink. You may also build the ingredients in a larger pitcher and pour the mixture in prepared glasses. It’s even better! Enjoy!
