One of the most recognized importers of quality Italian products to the country, Bottega Mediterranea, has recently opened up the business to allow households to benefit from their expertise. Previously selling directly to restaurants and hotels, it was once only reputable establishments that were able to take advantage of their expertise and contacts. With the new opening of a retail shop however, where clients can buy direct, or have items delivered to their door, all gourmet lovers now have access to boutique Italian goodies.
Cold cuts, cheeses, frozen meats, wines, antipasto and dry goods, all from Italy, all hand-picked by a master chef, are the shops’ specialty. What we’re particularly excited about however, is Bottega Mediterranea’s delivery service. Imagine, all of the above delivered to your doorstep, with a day advance order easily completed on-line, by email or over the phone. It’s a ready-made party and you don’t even have to leave your home!
We can’t resist trying out the service and easily meet the minimum RM100 order entitling us to free delivery. Cold cuts, cheeses, antipasto and wine make an instant party, and we pick up some other items too to keep on hand for a quick meal.
Parma Ham aged for 22 months, Salame Varzo, Cacciatorino and Gorgonzola Cheese come vacuum packed, so we can order well in advance and not worry about the goods expiring too quickly. Each is sealed on a separate tray so we can easily make requests for a number of events, have them delivered on the same day, and leave them in the refrigerator until required. Set up on a chopping board or platter, they make fast and delicious epicurean displays.

Giant Green Olives and Baby Artichokes too make excellent choices for party finger food, or additions to salads and other recipes for those who like to cook. Stored in re-sealable jars, they’re a versatile product.

To finish off our party ordering, a number of Italian wines and liquors, including a series of organic drops, in a range of prices, are a considered. We end up trying a red wine, an Estremo Confine blend of Sangiovese and Montepulciano. It makes a great table wine, harmonious in the palate and easy drinking, pairing well with a number of cold cuts and pastas.

For our pantry, Di Martino Linguine and Penne, are on the list, as well as a gluten-free Viazzo Macaroni. Of particular interest to us is the production method used to create this celiac friendly pasta. Proudly organic and non-GMO certified, the company generates energy for the production of the riso di pasta, with the husk, a rice byproduct. Continuing their sustainability model, rice is sourced from local famers and the goal is to have a zero carbon footprint.

Cervia Sea Salt is another product with an intriguing history. Known sometimes as “white gold,” this special salt is valued for its sweetness and purity. Because of its lower level of bitter chlorides, it’s ideal for cooking and in the production of cheese and cured meats. Hubby thinks it’s rather special and is already dreaming up a recipe for which he can put it to good use.

Although we had these items delivered to our home, self-pickup is also available, and if you call ahead the team will prepare your order so it’s ready upon your arrival. Debit or credit card is the online method of payment, but cash is another accepted method of payment in the deli.
Reasons to visit/ order: so convenient – it’s an instant party delivered to your door!; good range of quality Italian products personally selected by a master chef; now you too can have access to the goods previously only available to chefs – unleash your inner gourmet.

I love cheese and fruits!!! I don't eat pasta…well, rarely, and cold cuts either, as I find them very difficult and heavy to digest.
As for you question as to whether or not we compost here, this is coming soon, so I hear. I think companies have already begun, or at least some have.
Lovely stuff. Wouldn't be able to get those here, nothing near. 🙁
Home delivery – there's a lovely luxury in Malaysia!

That is great you can get food delivered, saves shopping. I love olives.
Oh authentic!
You know my Italian friends can just have Parma ham and rolls for their lunch every day!
Great stuff, esp. that blue cheese!
The salami looks excellent. Saw a good picture of you both on Facebook today.
Greetings,
Filip
Those cheeses! Looks like you can get a whole meal from here.
Nice Post!
