In this interview, Dr Adam Ong, Aesthetic Physician, Ozhean A.M. Clinic shares some stories from behind the skins and his interest in the aesthetic industry.

What do you do and how did you get into the industry?

I am an aesthetic physician. I was always intrigued by Korean culture and passion in aesthetic medicine and when I knew Ozhean Clinic in Korea were going to expand to Malaysia, I did not hesitate to be a part of it. Korean aesthetic approaches are more results-oriented, and the new advancement is fast. Thus, doctors need to improve their skills in keeping up with the trends continually.

Why aesthetic medicine?

I love art, and I love making people feeling beautiful. Nevertheless, aesthetic medicine is about the enhancement of one’s beauty with scientific knowledge and a skilled hand to ensure the best result while maintaining safety.

What’s the best part of your job?

Seeing patients’ satisfaction with the results from the procedure that’s done by me.

What’s one of the saddest things you’ve seen behind the scenes?

Seeing victims of failed aesthetic procedures performed by untrained individuals.

FIT Brightening- it will brighten skin tone and remove pigmentation utilizing a combination of treatments.

What treatment do you think gets the best results for money?

The one that makes you feel good about yourself. It’s very individual.

A day in the life of an aesthetic physician is …

Listening, understanding, educating, doing procedures, repeat.

The perfect day off would be…

Sipping wine and watching comedy.

What do you do for fun?

Travelling, scuba diving, trying new things.

What’s something you’d like people to know about Ozhean?

When you’re not working, what is your favourite food and beverage pairing?

Spicy hotpot with beer.

What’s your view on the beauty scene in Kuala Lumpur?

It’s blooming fast. Everyone wants to get involved, including untrained individuals. It could be a potentially high risk to consumers in some instances.

Where do you see the industry headed?

Preventive treatment. Increasingly, younger generations are seeking aesthetic improvement before ageing kicks in.

What’s in store for you in the upcoming months?

We are introducing some new slimming and weight loss treatments. We will bring a popular Korean slimming program, which helps reducing weight without extreme food restriction.
