Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara has introduced a refreshed delivery and takeaway menu in addition to a grab-and-go kiosk at the hotel’s entrance. These options, combined with dine-in, hope to attract KL residents and make up for lost business. As part of the new normal, the hotel will continue adapting along this path, flexibly catering to diners’ needs. 

We sampled their menu early on during the first MCO in 2020. Satisfied with the service, we are certainly happy to try them again. Consumers should also be delighted with some hefty price reductions. Pricing is now more competitive with restaurants rather than loftier bills oft associated with five-star hotels.

The menu offers a good variety utilizing the skills from across the hotel’s kitchens. It includes Japanese Donburi, Chinese Delicacies, French Pastries, and Local Delights. Additionally, French and Western Choices compose a good part of the collection. It’s these sections that get most of our attention. 

Sofitel Flavours in Your Office or Home – Appetizers

Salade Landaise (RM 25), a traditional French salad from the Landes region, is delicious for its contrast of temperatures – warm sliced duck atop cool, crisp lettuce. Tomato, croutons, walnuts and a wonderfully tangy honey mustard dressing season it.

Sandwiches & Burgers

The French Croque Monsieur (RM 18) is a warm and comforting toasted sandwich. This fancy ham and cheese toastie is made even more dreamy with bechamel sauce. I highly recommend popping it in the oven for a few minutes before serving to ensure the cheese is all melty.

Soups

Another satisfying order is the All-Time-Favourite Mushroom Soup (RM 18). Paris mushrooms are cooked with lemon and thyme and topped off with truffle essence. Superbly thin, crunchy sourdough slices are far better than your average crouton. 

Pasta & Pizza

Creamy Potato Gnocchi (RM 22), minus the hazelnuts, baby morels and truffle oil from the first menu (RM 68), has been reimagined to fit a leaner budget. The foundation is as equally delicious without the extra trimmings, and at this price, I can order three of them as opposed to one.

I’m especially appreciative of the tasty and nutritious recipe, Norwegian Salmon Lasagna (RM 25). Made with a rich tomato sauce, spinach and salmon layered with pasta sheets and a conservative dose of bechamel, it’s light and highly appetizing.

From the Oven

Following French tradition, baked goods have a strong presence in Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara’s kitchen. Carb addicts would be wise to order. While there are a bunch of pastries and sweets, my preferences lie in hearty and whole-grain options. The Multigrain Sourdough (RM 15) fits the bill with its seedy crust and perfectly soft, chewy middle. 

Wine

While not listed on their published menu, Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara’s French foundations do destine the hotel to have a decent wine menu. If you let them know when ordering your meal, they are happy to include the convenience of wine delivery in your order.
