Sunday Brunch at W Singapore – Sentosa Cove

W Singapore – Sentosa Cove’s brunch promotion, Sunday Brunchscape, runs between 12 and 3 pm and includes access to the resort’s enormous free-form pool from 3 to 7 pm. It’s an awesome deal comprised of several tiers of inclusions and occupies an entire afternoon out.

the kitchen table on the ground floor of W Singapore – Sentosa Cove is the pleasant address for the Sunday Brunchscape. We’d usually choose an outdoor seat (cooled by giant ceiling fans). Still, it’s a particularly warm day on our visit, and our table by the window offers an equal amount of natural light, only in air-conditioned comfort. We’re just a table away from the buffet, making refilling our plates very convenient.

Free-flow Package

We begin with some beverages while considering the buffet, trying to strategise before diving right in. The basic package includes a free-flow of coffee, tea, juices, soft drinks and mocktails. You can upgrade to include a lovely natural prosecco (Pete’s Pure) from Australia, house wines (red and white by Argentinian Terrazas and Whispering Angel Rose), spirits and cocktails, or upgrade further and turn that prosecco into Champagne with Moet & Chandon.

Two vibrant cocktails whet our appetites, a classic Aperol Spritz for me (can’t resist the oversized glass, summery orange hue and bitter-sweet finish) and a W Sling Shot for hubby. The house cocktail is composed of Bombay Sapphire Gin, Heering Liqueur and D.O.M. Benedictine, and is further chilled with an entire cherry popsicle upsided in the glass. It’s a fun presentation and particularly refreshing in the tropical heat.

Later we move on to bubbles; is there anything better for Sunday brunch? However, also appreciate the option of rose (seriously, we should drink way more of this in Southeast Asia) and red and white wine to pair with various dishes. There are plenty of booze-free options, but for those looking to party, the waitstaff is ready to fully engage – ensuring our glasses are always full and tempting us further with pass-around shots.

Sunday Brunch Buffet W Singapore – Sentosa Cove

The Sunday brunch buffet at W Singapore – Sentosa Cove winds around one central location in the restaurant. It extends onto one patio with a tandoori oven and to another semi-alfresco area with a drinks station and live mixology.

Seafood Buffet Singapore

Overwhelmed with choices, we narrow our focus and go immediately for the gold (or the pearly silver in this case). The oyster shucking station features not one but three (!) types of oysters on ice. One master shucker has his work shelled out for him as he tirelessly frees the bivalve molluscs from their cells. He prods several with a knife, demonstrating how they flinch from the point and just how fresh (alive) these oysters are. My ostreophile friend Josh Green would be pleased with the selection. Apart from silver buckets of oysters on ice, there’s an assortment of other sea creatures – crustaceans to fish – that get repeat refills on almost every table.

Roasts & Barbecue

Roasts, both from the land and the sea, are the second biggest attraction at Sunday Brunchscape. A whole seabass baked in salt, and prime ribs, pink in the middle and charred on the edges, are a sight for hungry eyes. Next-door neighbours to the roast display, chefs work with flame and charcoal, also grilling up an array of proteins.

Tandoor Station

Head outdoors, and you’ll find an area dedicated to Indian recipes. The Indian chef de cuisine pulls out naan and kebabs from the tandoor oven and scoops up bowls of creamy butter chicken and classic curries. This hot counter could easily be enough for the entire meal if it weren’t for so many other distractions.

Buffet

There is also bowl upon tray upon chafing dish of cold and hot items to fill plates. Appetisers, salads, cheese, noodles, rice, and multiple levels of sweets surrounding a chocolate fountain ensure something for everyone.

A La Minute Selections

Finally, for those desiring more “br” (breakfast) in their brunch (or just not wanting to get up from the table), four signature a la minute selections are available – BBQ Pulled Beef Waffles, W Purple Octopus Dos, 65 C Slow Cooked Egg, and  Avocado on Grilled Sourdough Toast .

Sunday Brunch – Service

It would be remiss to conclude without mentioning how incredibly helpful, lively, charming, fun and professional the staff at W Singapore – Sentosa Cove are. As mentioned, our glasses were never empty. Used plates were cleared promptly. Staff volunteered to capture photos, even suggesting the best poses and angles, and were all-around darn good fun. Special mention to Wai Meng and Bhavani, who make guests feel like royalty with their attentiveness and ability to predict needs before we even know we have them.
