The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery

A decade ago, I may have said that airport hotels are convenient but rarely places you’d consider spending more than a layover. However, we’ve recently been to several that break that stereotype. The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery has so much to offer that guests would do well to consider prolonging a sojourn, and city dwellers might even consider it a great staycay option in Hong Kong.Â
We interrupt this fee to announce a limited-time offer!

Location
The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery provides convenience to the airport (5-minute drive), stunning views over Lantau hills and sea, easy access to hiking trails, Citygate Outlets, Asia World Expo, The Big Buddha and a direct train line to Hong Kong Disneyland and Central Hong Kong. Add to that incredibly comfortable and stylish rooms, great food and beverage, quality facilities and excellent service, and you’ve got plenty of reasons to stay more than a night.
The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery Rooms
From Classic Rooms to Pool Terrace Suites, the 206 rooms at The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery are well designed, showcasing chic contemporary style with comfort as the core value. A quote on a coaster in my room sums up the stay experience in three words, “Live Every Moment.” Exceptional attention to detail makes every aspect feel luxurious.
My Sunset Suite frames jaw-dropping views of Lantau hills and sea with enormous curved, double-glazed windows. We’re minutes from the airport, yet you’d never know it with the silence and the serene outlook.
The suite is a whopping 77 sqm. You’d be hard-pressed to find too many apartments that size in downtown Hong Kong. The living and dining area is separated from the bedroom, with doorways that blend into the walls. They provide a seamless pattern, maximising space and furnishing continuity of design.
The shower is a show-stopper, near the top of my list for Best Hotel Showers Ever. There’s a handheld nozzle with multiple settings, a rain shower head, and several outlets for wall mist, all set in chrome against quality tiling. The hot water is instant and high-pressured, but the drops are large, round and robust, not skinny, pointy and spiteful. That must sound strange if you’ve never analysed the comfort level of water drops, but if you know, you know. That’s not all. Containers of aromatherapy oil can be attached to the hose, infusing softly scented oil into the pipe, much like a coffee pod in an espresso machine.
And then, there’s the innovative shower toilet from Villeroy & Boch, Germany. The toilet lid lifts automatically when you open the door inviting you to sit in heated comfort. I hear it whisper, “My queen, your thrown awaits.” After you’ve completed your business, a water jet cleanses your intimate parts thoroughly. Then a warm air stream ends the job. You leave, and the toilet automatically cleans and prepares for the next visit.
Besides a rave-worthy toilet and shower, the bathroom has loads of natural light (one of the biggest challenges in hotel rooms), a bathtub big enough for two with a rack for books, wine and devices, and the vanity not only has double sinks but double magnifying mirrors, too. MALIN+GOETZ products are provided in refillable pumps, and single-use pre-packaged items such as toothbrushes and shaving kits are not automatically supplied. They’re available upon request but not unnecessarily wasted. Oh, and the hairdryer is Dyson. I want one.
Needless to say, detail is set up for maximum comfort, including and most importantly, the bed. I’m torn every morning between staying in, snuggling and luxuriating in the luxurious Egyptian cotton linens and getting up to explore. An artisan spray bottle of soft scent mirroring the natural surroundings is placed bedside, a final luxury before you drift off to sleep.
The 55″ Smart TV is noted but never turned on, and free, fast WiFi is just a click to connect. No fuss.
I love my Sunset Suite, but you might prefer to compromise some of that indoor space for a private outdoor Jacuzzi or pool. In that case, take a look at the Pool Terrace or Jacuzzi Terrace suites.
Facilities
I certainly appreciate a gym open 24 hours and more so one with top-of-the-line machinery, Technogym. It’s compact but has all I need to get in some cardio, strength and flexibility training. A small garden-bordered lawn even makes a fine setting for yoga and stretching.
The 25m outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi is another gem, especially when embraced by magnificent landscaping, a grassed sundeck with daybeds and those Lantau hill views.
Even the garden path the lobby overlooks makes a pleasant stroll. Silver sculptures amongst verdant bushes and flowering plants are mood-lifting.
Those travelling for business might find the two meeting rooms lit with natural daylight a handy inclusion.
Food & Beverage
Breakfast at THE ENCLAVE is a pleasant start to the day (and the hotel is currently running a deal where you can include it in your stay for HK$1!). Most people are seated inside on comfy chairs and booths. However, the outdoor courtyard is the best spot for me. It’s springtime in Hong Kong, and morning temperatures are fresh. Large enough for three tables of four, the patio is embraced by subtropical foliage accented by pots of blooming red ixora (jungle geranium). Large umbrellas shade the area, and birdsong provides natural background music.
The buffet is a compact selection of hot items, eggs made to order and cold salads, fruit, yoghurt and cereal. I’m a creature of habit for morning meals, so predictably, eggs, fruit, yoghurt and several oat milk lattes keep me happy. Though, trending bubble waffles seem popular picks.
Staff are smartly dressed, professional and kind. Richard ensures my coffee cup is always full and my questions are always answered. Others clear the table and are always close enough to fulfil any needs.
The modern bistro-styled restaurant serves an excellent a la carte and set lunch and dinner menus. Check out our dining experience here. Otherwise, grab something light, such as juices, smoothies and sandwiches at FRESH.
If you’re staying at The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery (you might even consider it if you’re not), a sundowner at THE PAVILION is a must. Positioned to take full advantage of beautiful sunsets over the bay and layered hills beyond. The sun directly dives behind the hills, leaving a golden reflection on the glittering water’s surface as the occasional boat breaks the sea’s glossy veneer. Sunset Aperitif begins at 3:30 pm daily and lasts a generous four-and-a-half hours, where a selection of drinks is available at discounted prices. Read more about that here.
The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery Review
I cannot close a review of The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery without mention of the staff. The airport hotel is luxury at its finest, but the exceptional service team are what made my stay truly memorable. Unexpected extras, such as remembering my coffee order in the morning and delivering flower tea at bedtime, were characteristic of the stay from start to finish. If you have a stopover in Hong Kong, stay at The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery. If you visit for a more extended trip or reside in HK, book a stay at The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery.
Reasons to stay at The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery: Besides convenience to Hong Kong International Airport, Air Asia Expo, Citygate Outlets, The Big Buddha, hiking trails on Lantau Island and direct train lines to Hong Kong Disneyland and Central, The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery is an incredibly stylish and comfortable hotel with beautiful rooms, exceptional service and excellent facilities. Both travellers to Hong Kong and island residents would do well to consider a stay.
