Beautifully plated dishes are not usually what comes to mind when considering food delivery. However, the team at Fook KL defy the norm with their prettily presented contemporary Asian recipes in their MCO 2.0 delivery and takeaway menu.

Chef Sombat Kokasemkul has a well-earned reputation for delivering menus that are both delicious to eat and attractive to behold. It comes as no surprise then, that when charged with the task of crafting a to-go menu, that taste, as well as presentation, were given equal attention.
Starters
If you are a tuna fan, I absolutely recommend beginning with the Flamed Maguro Tuna (RM 45, header photo). You couldn’t ask for more perfectly cooked fish; torched on the edges and vibrant pink in the middle. The slices are delicately laid atop a tangle of cold soba noodles. A spicy ponzu sauce is packed separately for customers to add to their own liking.
Another hearty and tasty beginning is found in the Grilled Beef & Lemongrass Salad (RM 39). It’s superbly fresh with a bed of finely chopped green mango, lemongrass and red onion cushioning the tender meat. Sprigs of coriander freshen the crown, and again, the sauce, spicy wasabi and lime, comes apart.
Mains
Red Duck Braised in Chinese Spices (RM 55) is yet another wonderful colour combination. Striking slices of soft duck fan the plate contrasting verdant bok choy that is so crisp I’m sure it was just-plucked this morning. Pickled ginger tempers the more robust flavours in the duck.
The second of our mains is impressively parcelled. Packaged in a lotus leaf, the Baked Chicken (RM 55) brings with it a similar joy to unwrapping a gift from under the Christmas tree. The meat is superbly moist and flavourful. Soya beans impart a deep earthiness to the dish, and accompanying sauces of brown jus and chilli allow you to play with the composition.

Lastly, a highly satisfying Mushroom Orgy (RM 25) provides a vegetarian side. They go well with both the duck and the chicken, but we’d also happily eat these alone with a plate of rice.
