Osteria Gamberoni Delivery Menu

Monica Tindall

“Fresh pasta, made daily on-site and thin-crust, Roman-style pizza. Locally-sourced seafood and free-range poultry, cooked in the Italian tradition.”

The team at Osteria Gamberoni embrace all that I love about Italian food – wholesome ingredients, minimally interfered with to bring out the best of their natural character. We were taken by their fresh pasta, alfresco dining and incredibly good value wine prices on our first visit. This round, we try out the delivery menu and some special weekend orders.

Pizza

The pizza here is a happy medium between the floppy Napoli style and a paper-light pastry. Thin crusts with a bit of crunch make excellent bases for quality toppings. I love the meat-free choice of Rucola e Tartufo (RM 42). Straightforward ingredients of tomato sauce, mozzarella, wild rocket and truffle paste allow the flavour of each to play its part. Alternatively, and while I am all for plant-based meals, there is no denying that the Diavola (RM 36) is darn delicious. Spicy beef salami is the key here, supported by tomato sauce, mozzarella and black olives.

Osteria Gamberoni Delivery Menu – Fresh Pasta

The team at Osteria Gamberoni is best known for its handmade pasta. As such, this should definitely be included, if not be the bulk of, your order from their delivery menu. We are tempted by two of their ala carte items as well as a weekend pre-order special.

Possibly my favourite dish on the menu is Tagliolini Frutti di Mare (RM 42). Part of the appeal is the tender strands of tagliolini with just enough bite to them while being entirely coated in the sauce. Secondly, the light tomato and white wine sauce is so delicious. It has a soft sweetness that gently complements the sea bass fillets, tiger prawns, squid and clams that bulk up the recipe.

For lovers of the classics, you can’t go past Tagliatelle Bolognese (RM 34). Also made with fresh pasta, the slow-cooked beef mince, and red wine and tomato sauce cover every string. Shaved Parmesan tops it off.

Weekend Pre-order Specials

Newly available, Osteria Gamberoni’s delivery menu offers weekend pre-order specials (must order before 10 pm Thursday). Pastries, pasta and roasts are all up for picking. We’ve got the Cannelloni (RM 68) for two pax. These fresh tubes of pasta are stuffed with beef minced meat and baked together with tomato sauce and bechamel. Handily, they come in an aluminium tray that can be popped straight in the oven when you’re ready to reheat.

Osteria Gamberoni Delivery Menu – Something Sweet

Pastry fans should definitely consider ordering sweets. Their bomboloni are the very definition of to-die-for, and their Crostatine Alla Marmellata (RM 20, 2 pieces) are fine examples of Italian jam tarts. Light, crisp shells are filled with an assortment of conserves and dusted with icing sugar. Lastly, and a seasonal treat, Frappe di Carnevale (RM 18) brings a typical dessert made during carnival in Rome. They require a one-day advance order but are worth the wait. Thin sheets of pastry are fried and coated with powdered sugar. They crumble both between your fingers and in the mouth.

  1. No photo of their bomboloni? Ahhh!!! This is the place that you mentioned in your comment in my blog, the bomboloni are so very nice.

  2. I love thin crusty pizzas, unfortunately, the only pizza place near us (when it allowed to open!) has thick crusts, well thicker than what we like. The pasties look fabulous. Cheers Diane
