JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach offers a boutique hotel experience with 5-star facilities. Located on the happening lifestyle and entertainment strip of South Beach and placing a high value on all of the arts (including culinary creativity), the hotel has endless options for epicurean pleasures, shopaholic satisfaction and art appreciation.
Design Hotel – JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach
Far removed from my first visit to a JW Marriott Hotel over 20 years ago (positive stay but very business-like in design), the brand has evolved to provide distinctive experiences reflecting the culture of its contemporary surrounds. A few steps from the National Art Gallery and a block from the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach not only mirrors its neighbours in building the wealth of the arts community but is a key contributor.
From enormous installation pieces and design furnishings to modern works in rooms and even projection light displays in the lifts, every corner provides something to intrigue the eye. This carries over to innovative cuisines found in a solid array of dining outlets and musical entertainment in some of the hippest bars you’ll find in Singapore (Tonic, Cool Cats).
Location – JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach
As mentioned, JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach is in the hub of hip. Suntec City, Marina Bay, and Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre are close enough to not even tempt a sweat being a brief stroll away. Arab Street, Clarke Quay, Merlion Park, Singapore Flyer and Little India are unlikely to persuade perspiration either. Two MRT stations on the hotels’ doorstep can get you to just about anywhere else you’d want to go in the city. Alternatively, guests enjoy complimentary onsite parking and for those wanting a hassle-free airport transfer, there’s even a limousine service (of course, equipped with Wi-Fi, wet towels and refreshments).
JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach Rooms
Twenty-one floors in two towers hold 587 rooms and 47 suites. The rooms are light and bright with floor to ceiling windows adding to their spaciousness. A modern mural paints a simple black and white form where a bed head might go and the interior is further complemented by contemporary furnishings and high-quality fittings. Complimentary Wi-Fi, in-room dining, a wide range of TV channels, and a good looking mini bar supply all the trimmings.
The white marble bathroom features a generously sized shower and bathtub, as well as high tech toilets – the type that open and close automatically and warm up the seat for you. Bathrobe, slippers and all of the expected amenities provide the final touches in a room that is both functional and attractive.
JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach Executive Lounge
Our Club Premier Room comes with access to the Executive Lounge, which we make good use of. I find a table by the window bathed in natural sunlight comfortable for catching up on some writing throughout the day with plenty of plugs for charging devices and access to a free-flow of non-alcoholic beverages. Continental breakfast, afternoon tea, hors-d’oeuvres, dessert and cocktails could easily satiate light eaters. I don’t, though, advise spending all of your time here, tempting as it may be, as JW Marriot Singapore South Beach has some fantastic food and beverage concepts.
Food and Beverage JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach
A vibrant array of eateries within the hotel itself and along the bustling South Beach entertainment and lifestyle strip extend guests a myriad of alternatives to satisfy just about any craving. Beach Road Kitchen, the hotel’s all-day-dining restaurant puts just about everything on the table from the kitchen for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a bustling setting of live cooking stations and extravagant smorgasbords. Sunday brunch is an extraordinary affair and one of the most comprehensive I’ve come across. Check it out here.
Akira Back, in the basement, is home to celebrity cuisine in a scrumptious line-up of Japanese recipes with international interpretations. They too offer a reservation-worthy brunch in the form of an eight-course menu, inclusive of a complimentary bottle of prosecco for every two sets ordered. Full menu with photos and prices here.
Court Martial Bar and Tonic ensure no one goes thirsty and the fabulous new NCO Club takes going out to a fabulously exciting level with four concepts under one roof. Guests at Fish Pool sip on Champagne while watching a real-life mermaid frolic in the glass-walled pool while visitors to Stag’s Room find delight in wines from around the world. Stomachs are filled in the glamorous Madame Fan Cantonese restaurant and nights never end in Cool Cats with live jazz, blues and soul on the weekends. Find more on The NCO Club via this link.
Facilities JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach
Despite being wonderfully convenient to just about everything in Singapore, some guests find it a struggle to leave the walls of the JW Marriott Singapore South Beach, if not for the delicious food and beverage options, then for the facilities.
Spectacular views over Marina Bay are found from two infinity pools and sky gardens. Fully serviced by separate bars the areas and vistas make even a simple dip in the water feel like a luxurious outing. With one shaded and the other warmed by the sun, guests can decide just how hot or cool they’d like to get.
Backing up the pools and sky gardens are a luxury spa and well-equipped fitness centre. Besides sporting the latest in technology in cardio and strength equipment, giant screens (literally mammoth panels that cover an entire wall from floor to ceiling) inspire gym-goers with famed athletes demonstrating workouts ranging from HITT training to Pilates to yoga. For those less inclined to move, or as a reward after an intense workout, the spa is a generous space for a city spa and provides a solid collection of massage, facial and beauty treatments to relax, refresh and rejuvenate.
Reasons to stay at JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach: art, food, views and design are inspirational; incredibly convenient location; polished service; impressive pools and facilities; ideal for business or leisure; perhaps one of the most comprehensive food and beverage offerings we’ve come across in a hotel.
Stunning! Entrance via Nicoll Highway? In the 70’s, no entry to any place along Beach Road via the highway – I guess that was for safety reasons as motorists would go real fast in the highway…at the time.
Oh my goodness! so a beautiful and artistic hotel!
At least I have been to Singapore but I do not think we stayed anywhere quite as sumptuous as this! Cheers Diane
What an amazing place.
Love the views.
The hotel looks like a work of art incorporating the buildings in the background.
The views that are afforded from just about every venue of the hotel are simply gorgeous! What a place to experience!
