We at The Yum List think that the best gifts are edible (or drinkable). With that in mind, here’s a round-up of some of our favourite gourmet gift ideas for Christmas 2020.

Coffee Delivery

It’s no surprise that coffee is on this list. That daily dose of caffeine brings such happiness that it’s only natural that you’d want to share the joy. Brew & Bread have some sweet gift sets packaged for Christmas. Alternatively, coffee lovers would be just as delighted by a subscription or whole bundle of beans. 

Pictured below (a gift to myself) shows their drip bag coffee, which is perfect for the office or a convenient cup at home. For weekends and moments when you want to prolong the pleasure, a bag of their Driver blend (our fave) and single origin whole beans, await our espresso machine and cold brewer. Beautiful Whisky Beautifully Packaged

For the whisky lover, The Balvenie and Royal Selangor present an exquisite ultra-limited edition (only 15!) collector’s box. This is The Balvenie’s first collaboration in Malaysia under ‘The Balvenie Handcrafted By’ platform that aims to “bring to life the passion for craftsmanship, and celebrate the heart, passion and people behind different crafts.”

Containing an exclusive set of rare and especially fine single malts by The Balvenie, the limited-edition collector’s box is made from high-grade walnut wood encased in handcrafted pewter. Royal Selangor’s signature dimple design and hammering technique require a great deal of skill and precision. Three signature bottles can be housed within the box, and collectors and connoisseurs can choose from The Balvenie expressions which are 30 years and above, with a minimum value purchase of £32,700. Alternatively, and in the price range of more folk, are gift packs including the 12-Year-Old DoubleWood, 14-Year-Old Caribbean Cask or 17-Year-Old DoubleWood single malt. The set comes together with a delicately handcrafted pewter-based whisky glass. They will be available from January 2021 onwards in Cold Storage, TMC, Mercato, AEON, Maxvalu, Jaya Grocer, Village Grocer@Tropicana, Tesco and Sunshine.

Bubbly

Perfect for the end of year festivities, Moët & Chandon recently unveiled its holiday season “Tie your wish” collection designed to celebrate the promise of a bright new year. Playfully, the “Tie your wish” design reinterprets the classically distinctive codes of the House with a new twirl, adorning a limited-edition festive bottle and a customised message printed on ribbons to share celebrations and gift-giving moments. 

Moët & Chandon’s black tie has elegantly dressed the House’s champagne bottles since 1886. This year, that binding symbol unravels into a silver ribbon that wraps the Maison’s distinctive label contouring the shape of a joyful holiday tree. Find it here.

Christmas Spiced Gin

Still, on the drinks theme, the local bitter masters at Pahit have brewed up their own Christmas Spiced Gin. Made with London dry gin, chai-infused vermouth, gingerbread, and a bunch of other spices, it’s possibly my fave mix this festive season. The gin is priced at RM 200 and includes four cans of tonic. I highly recommend an order.

Wine

Coffee, whisky, bubbly and gin; it only follows that wine should be included too, right? One of our beloved boutique suppliers, Strine Wine, has a bunch of Christmas packages made in collaboration with several local artisans. Check out their collections here and be sure to look for their Mount Mary wines; delicious drops and some of our personal faves.

Artisan Cheese Box

With a tag line of “to brie or not to brie,” For the Grater Gouda (also cleverly named) makes beautiful artisan cheese boxes. They are eye-catching collections for small gatherings and also serve as a delicious gift for cheese-loving friends.

Bread & Butter

Continue spreading the love with The Studio KL’s bread and butter boxes. Their Christmas Butter Gift Set (RM 118) includes six jars of flavoured butter, two freshly baked mini French baguettes, one hand-illustrated Christmas greeting card with a personalised message and a butter menu. We had quite a bit of fun doing a butter taste test at home with friends. I imagine we all have that one friend who would be especially excited by this. 

Bread Box

And while on the subject of bread, The Kefir King is committed to giving just as much as you are. For every Christmas gift box of three sourdough brioche buns, and three sourdough pretzels (yum!) purchased they will contribute one sourdough loaf to families in need around the Klang Valley. Healthy Gift Bags

Seems I can’t get enough carbs and the team at Wisecrafters is happy to fulfil those cravings with various gift bags. With the mission of assisting busy citizens to achieve personal health goals by offering healthilicious meals, there is no guilt associated with any of their treats. Green Immune Booster

Oh Cha Matcha is offering a green immune boost that is not only good for you but tasty too. The outlet, just opened this year, serves premium matcha beverages that are sugar and dairy-free and absolutely delicious. They have a few naughty treats also so you can balance out that goodness. Ensuring you don’t lose sight of the temptations associated with the festive season by browsing healthy choices, Baked by Sher brings sweet decadence to your door.
