While CNY 2021 celebrations might not look the same this year, there’s no doubt that restaurants continue to pull out all their resources to ensure it is at least a delicious one. The team at Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur have prepared a special delivery and take-home menu for the occasion.

Yee Sang

My favourite Chinese New Year dish is yee sang. I love the fresh ingredients and slightly sweet dressing. Also, I can’t resist the fun of tossing it high and wishing for good fortune. Executive Chef Gerald Chong and his culinary team make 2021’s recipe, Quan’s Kitchen‘s Triple Prosperity Yee Sang with a nod to yesteryear. Inspired by the nostalgia that childhood snacks invoke, this dish features crispy fish satay, chicken floss, rice crackers, chilli soft-shell crab (half portion for RM88 and a full portion for RM138). You can also go lux with the Opulence Yee Sang topped up with Tanjung Malim T’Lur Caviar (half portion for RM168 and a full portion for RM298).

Spring Happiness Set

If you’re going to order in, why not go the whole hog, right? For CNY 2021, the team at Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur are also serving up a magnificent eight-course feast in the Spring Happiness Set.

Appetizer & Soup

The Spring Happiness Set begins with Triple Prosperity Yee Sang (featured above), along with nourishing Double Boiled Fish Maw Consommé. The soup is loaded with flavour and supported by highly-prized matsutake mushrooms and dried scallops.

CNY 2021 – Mains

I find chef Gerald’s food comforting – both his western and Chinese recipes. The key is the use of top-quality ingredients, minimal processing and refusal to use additives such as MSG. Baked Cod is a delicious example. The moist fish is crowned with a chilli and coriander paste and sits in ginseng soy sauce. The tang and mild spice is a wonderful complement to the sweet flesh. Another tasty preparation is Crispy 5-Spice Salt and Pepper Chicken. Here it’s made into a roulade and pre-sliced for easy consumption. Wok-fried Hong Kong Kai Lan with preserved bean curd and an assortment of vegetables balances the meal.

Rice

Despite the mains being well-executed, hubby finds the rice to be irresistible. He scoops multiple serves of the fragrant pineapple fried rice. Assorted seafood is tossed through. Madras curry gives it a cheerful yellow tinge, and chopped pineapple makes for an attractive crest.

Dessert

Do save room for dessert as the quality in recipes carries right through to the end. Coated nian gao with pumpkin is the perfect parity of chewy and crisp. Glutinous rice balls filled with black sesame paste, are on the right side of sweet (gentle), and ginger tea infused with ginkgo nuts, wolfberries and sesame concludes the meal.
