Progressive Dinner/ Pub Crawl Around KLCC, Making the Best of the Views
Published on
What better way to spend an evening in Kuala Lumpur than gallivanting around the best bars and restaurants in the city? This route is perfect for KL residents wanting to show off their current home to visiting friends, to travelers looking to make the most of a short time in the country or, to anyone just desiring a good night out. This trail takes you on a journey from sundowners to appetizers, dinner, dessert and finishes with a little partying. All locations are within walking distance of each other and every one has its own unique and spectacular view of the city centre, including the mesmerizing twin towers.
Start at Marini’s on 57 around 5pm for happy hour drinks. Expect to pay around RM25 for a cocktail and look down on the Sky Bridge. There’s a dress code here so remember to wear closed toe shoes and a collar for the guys. Try a signature cocktail and move on before the after work crowd takes over.
Next take a short stroll to the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. You can either go via the underground walkway from KLCC to the aquarium or above ground between the park and the conference centre. Once at the aquarium, exit to Jalan Pinang and the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is right next door. From the ground floor take the lift directly to the 38th floor where you’ll be greeted with breathtaking views of the twin towers. Sit at the wine bar and indulge in some delicious specials on wine by the glass. An excellent selection of labels that you won’t see in other hotels is the highlight. By now it’s time to have a bite to eat. Check out their gourmet bar snacks for your starter. From something light such as sushi rolls or a cheese plate, to heavier fare such as mini beef burgers, all are high quality options.
Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur – great views from the elegant wine bar

When you’re ready for something more substantial cross the road to the Impiana Hotel and take the lift to the 15th floor for Cedar on 15. Head straight to the restaurant and order the Tasmanian Tenderloin and the Pumpkin Seed Crusted Codfish. Creamed spinach and sauteed mushrooms are unbeatable side orders. A little groove at the bar with the sparkling twin towers as back drop will aid digestion. (If you happen to be visiting on a Thursday night, remember there are free flow selected cocktails for the ladies all night long!)
For sweets cross the park to the iconic Norman Foster building, the Troika, to Claret, Troika Sky Dining. Cocktails with a twist or digestif are best paired with the pudding of your choice. Hubby’s fav being the Cherry Almond Tart with a glass of tawny port and, my preference the Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake with an Espresso Martini. For the whisky lover, a dessert pairing with three Michel Couvreur whiskies is a real treat.
Finally to party off all of that delicious food and beverage, walk back across the park to Sky Bar, on the 33rd floor of Traders Hotel. A fun contemporary atmosphere and a great DJ will make you want to bop the night away. A centre pool and open walls cool the air with night breezes and a line up of signature cocktails, wine by the glass, spirits and beer please all fancies. For party animals whiling away the night hours until the wee morning, we recommend soaking up some of that imbibement with tasty bar snacks such as the vege Quesadillas, Sky Bar Sharing Bucket and the Signature Nachos.
