50 Malaysian Faves – The Yum List’s Beloved Eat-Stay-Spa Picks with Discounts to Celebrate the The Yum List Turning 50
Monica Tindall
In celebration of my 50th birthday this October 7, I’ve compiled a list of 50 Malaysian Faves, including my favourite “eat, stay, spa” things in Malaysia, which has been home for most of my adult life. Not only is it a list of things that have brought me joy in my time here, but also 50 (maybe a few more than that) discounts and special benefits to share with you. From free bottles of wine and complimentary desserts to huge discounts on facials and hotel stays, I hope you’ll join the party this October and have a little treat on me.
50 Malaysian Faves
Products
These are a few of my favourite things…
Licky Chan’s Chocolate Concierge Ice Cream
Licky Chan makes the most delicious ice cream from local ingredients. They have awesome boozy and non-boozy flavours and even several plant-based varieties. My absolute fave is the creamy, dreamy, vegan Chocolate Concierge ice cream, packed with dark chocolate and a splash of whisky. Licky Chan customers can order delivery/pick-up through lickychan.beepit.com and get RM8 off using the promo code ”MONICA50” for orders above RM50.
The Deal: RM8 off orders RM50 and above
Cotta is a newcomer to my 50 Malaysian faves list. We only discovered them this year but quickly became addicted to their ricotta made from scratch! It’s deliciously delicate and superb on a thin slice of sourdough, as a dip, or as a filling for celery logs. The team are giving away 3 x 50% off vouchers to the first people to leave a comment on @theyumlist Instagram saying that they want the cheesy deal and leaving a birthday message for Monica.
The Deal: 3 x 50% off vouchers

Tropical Bakery’s Extensive Sourdough Range
I love a good sourdough with a chewy middle and crunchy crust, and Tropical Bakery has over 30 varieties to choose from! They handcraft their sourdough using only the highest quality ingredients, ensuring a blend of simplicity and tradition that shines in every loaf. My favourites are the loaves using ancient grains, freshly milled in-house, to preserve their rich nutrients and flavours, and oh gosh, their olive loaf is delish, too. The slow fermentation process enhances its rich, tangy taste and makes it easier to digest. Use the promo code “YumList” to receive RM10 off orders over RM100 in September & December on their website.
The Deal: RM10 off orders over RM100.
Choc Concierge’s 100% Dark Chocolate
Choc Concierge is an old-timer on my 50 Malaysian faves list. I’m addicted to their 100% dark chocolate in a bar, but they have also revamped their BSC cafe to serve this drink in the spirit of the origin of cacao. The drink is called “3000 BC” and is served without sweetener (it doesn’t need any). It is brewed only with water and a pinch of herbs, which is true to Mesoamerican traditions. For October 2024, they offer Yum List readers a bonus bonbon of any choice with each order of any drink at the café.
The Deal: Free bonbon with every drink order.
Miss Coco’s Artisan Chocolate & Coffee
Miss Coco serves fine, award-winning chocolate sourced from Venezuela and Malaysia, processed in its laboratory, Alba Chocolatier. They even have hot chocolate on tap! They use a unique Loring S35 coffee roasting machine, the only one in Malaysia, to roast perfectly balanced coffee. We love their Tolima blend – if only I could share the aroma with you through the screen – so good!
